Legit Brawl won't work with Wiikey because the Wiikey does NOT support WII DL DVDs. And Brawl is a WII DL DVD. And no, Nintendo did NOT create a uber protection, its just the wiikey who epic failes this time .. again. But hey, good that the wiikey team is working on that problem .. I hope so!

No, I don't believe it's that. Wiikey, as Nintendo knows well, it's the most worldwide diffused Wii Modchip. It takes over the 80% of the modchip market. So Nintendo EXCLUSIVELY blocked WiiKey, knowing it's its most dangerous enemy.

CycloWiz isn't ANY better. It's just that it's too less known for Nintendo to fear it.

And Wiikey supports DVD9 Wii games. Just try burning a SMG iso (or another game) and put it in your Wii. It will start without problems. Another user in this forum confirmed that.
I disagree completely... Wiikey just can't read the DL discs, that's all there is to it. SMG is not D9 so that doesn't prove anything. There's no way for Nintendo to have blocked only Wiikey mods.
And so why it would read all the games on a GC DVD9 compilation made by GCOS? (emu_kidid tried it personally, and you cannot doubt someone as known as him)

Why do they fail? They are working on the problem. Fail is when the don't succeed.
Yes .. NOW they working on it. But before > epic fail
Before is greater than epic fail? Okay.

anyway cant Wiikey's read dual layer multi-game discs for Gamecube stuff?

Yes, somebody mentioned earlier that their DVD9 multidisc GCN collections worked fine with their WiiKey.
Yeah, it's just that everyone loves bashing Wiikey.

Until all games work fine "YEAH THIS MODZORZ IS GREATZ I CAN PLAY ALL 4 FREE". When there's a game that doesn't work... "OMGZORZ THIS MODZORZ IS CRAPZ I'LL TELL EVERY1 THAT SUXORZ"...

Just wait, guys

So could someone explain what's the problem with dumping SSBB ? Is it just because it's dual layer ? If so, what is hard with dumping a dual layer, I don't understand what's hard to do ?  Isn't it the same as single layer but just need a DVD drive that reads DL ?

Wii disc are dumped like RAW data, so, current dumpers are programmed to dump discs from 0 to (let's make an example) 45000000, but will not read anything after that. That's the standard size for a single layer discs, but DL are bigger.

So we need a special DL Wii game dumper that supports DL discs and doesn't stop to the end of the first layer.

I think that's real that a DVD5 dump is out there and that can be made without too much problems (READ this well, I'm not saying that is AVAILABLE anywhere, it's only available to who has the game and dumped it himself/herself) but Scene groups can't release a probably incomplete and malfunctioning dump, so they're searching for a way to dump correctly a DL game.

BTW, it's nice to see that I was correct on Brawl being DVD9

Hmm... but if it would be that simple, then why didn't they just overwrite that 45000000 with 90000000?

QUOTE(Rulza @ Jan 31 2008, 07:27 PM)Why are people saying that the Wiikey team is slow with updates? The SMG update only took like 3 days and you got to play the game 3 months earlier than everybody else.
The audiofix update was slow, yes, but as far as i understand there was another guy working on the updates then.
It was 5 days for the update and 2 weeks before release (Which is still great)

Wait... is that... OVER 9 THOUSAND!?

Jokes apart, it's not that simple. Doubling the size is not exact, they need to know the exact size (which is a bit less), an overdump wouldn't help also, because I think there's some added protection in it. Like fake sectors between the two layers and things like that.

i am more of a lurker here...

but why was there even a "we hate wii-key" bandwagon to begin with?

I thought when you decide to mod, you go in knowing things may not be 100% right away or even ever..

Besides, I never remember seeing news that the wii-key team dispanded or abandoned.. I just thought the website was gone and we would get updates on a need to have basis...
