Sony has launched a new publishing label for PC ports

Sony is committing to its recent trend of porting certain PlayStation exclusives to the PC platform. In the past, games like Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn were published on Steam through PlayStation Mobile, but now all existing and future releases have been changed to a new label: PlayStation PC. The brand was created back in April, and is likely the result of Sony finding success with PlayStation games on the PC platform. Right now, the company is bringing over God of War and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, with both scheduled to launch sometime in early 2022.

so whats the point of buying ps anyway?
You get the games a couple years earlier, and it's still the cheaper option even despite the PS5 shortages (because PC GPUs are going for 2-3x MSRP). Assuming you're starting fresh and don't already have a decent gaming PC, anyway.

as someone who doesn't have the space for a PS4 on their already stuffed entertainment center i like this move by sony as it means i don't have to completely reorganize everything.

I know it's a long shot, but it would be pretty awesome if one day Sony released all of their games for PC like Xbox
I think they're beginning to realize that PC will never kill console, and releasing PC ports is just extra money for them. I actually have a friend that has the opportunity to use something way more powerful then his Xbox One S, but he is sticking to console for the moment because of all the progress he'd lose switching to PC. I think this is probably one of the reasons where Sony realized that not everyone will ditch console for PC. Hell, when my CPU died I considered selling my other parts and switching back to console due to how easy they are to pickup and play. Considering they're also working with Discord on a partnership, I can imagine they might even try to push Discord to try their game store again.

Good news all round really... I don't see them completely following MS and doing day one anytime soon, but can see the gap narrowing to more like 12 months... This will also work well in the future with the streaming agreement they have with MS: I don't see MS's servers kitted out with PS5s (or later), and this wouldn't need to happen if their stuff also comes to PC.

PC ports are great news! But I still don't get the decision to port Uncharted 4. Do they expect PC players to just skip the first 3?

Perhaps they expect gamers to buy a PS3/PS4/PS5 to see the whole series if they like the fourth game on PC. It's the only explanation I can think of.

PC as a platform name should be phased out in favour of the OS these days as Linux isn't really that niche anymore.

If you think of the platform as Windows, then it becomes a bit easier to understand why Sony is reluctant to go all in. Although, imagine if Sony decided to start releasing native Linux ports instead to cut into Windows dominance. Now that would be interesting.
No because it's coming to PC, your choice of OS doesn't matter in the given context.
However, for the assumption you made: Windows is and always will dominate the market as it's far more user friendly and has lots of people who are actively paid a lot to make it so. Linux loses out on the benefits of straight up capitalism and that's just perfectly logical. Back in the day PC just meant your PC, whether it was apple, IBM or whatever. Market dominance of windows coupled with apple trying to distance itself from windows when it started to lose ground as "not a PC", "better than a PC".

It's pretty much immortalized now that PC is synonymous with Windows. If the term offends you, better just start using desktop/laptop and stressing your cool individualism by spewing which distro you're running (you cool dude, you!)

p.s. Remember, open source is just communism coding. China is great, without issue, and in fact has clearly proven to work exceptionally well (sic)
