Hes dropped my ps4 off and said hes looked at my disc drive and it didnt have any board on it and sent me pics of him taking it apart.
He has tried to use a drive that has the board and said it wouldnt fit because of the eject button has like a board that means the disc drive wont fit.
So he has tried two different drives and all they do is show the disc icon flashing when you insert a game.
My drive wouldnt even feed the disc into the drive.
So i guess my only option now is to do what i didnt want to do and download my games and run off a hdd.

I didn't know they made an MSU cart for the Genesis.... I knew about the SNES one and the library for that is rather large but the Genesis one has very few games+1

An FPGA could probably replicate the chip's functionality without buying donor parts.+1

Like not emulating the entire SNES but just a loader and the enhancement chips perhaps even slightly overclocked like FX-2
