You're right and this is why I specified that it is only for now. I might get to the task when I feel it's important for a game I want to play.

But right now, and newbies with Japanese consoles can do that too. You can litteraly fire up Google translate on your phone and translate the text live on the screen. It helped me a lot navigating the menu and reading error messages...

I might participate in making a formal Guide for the Japanese Wii U in the future as it's pretty cheap compared to US ones and they are very clean like new in general for about half the price. I even bought a backup console haha.

What about installing the US version of the game and run without spiik? if the game is available for a specific region only (eg. USA) it should run without any problem as the code does not need to look for other region localization file. In my case i run Kamen Rider (jap only) with SPIIK region change to EUR it will still run without any issue.

What i have found out is that game only freeze if a game is develop for multiple region but the language file is not included in the version you are running

e.g Mario Kart 8 available in multiple region but when you run the USA version on japanese console it will freeze as it is trying to locate the japanese language file which is not in the USA version of the game

Which is why when we replace language file, in some cases we need both the USA and Japanese version of the game.

Hello everyone, I quite new with JP wii u also. As the quote here, I downloaded Zelda BOTW (US), install on HDD, but still got freeze on loading screen. Could someone here suggest the way to fix this?

You must download update file and mod language.

I tried, but failed. I think there's smth missing. Did u success to mod this game? Could you explain which files (or folders) i have to move?

Update: My bad, my update file was corrupted, so it made the game crash. When I fixed the files, everything run smoothly.

I have the 3 USA Zeldas running fine in English on my Japanese console.

Did you run Spiik ? This should be sufficient to run them.

Thank you for feedback and gladly still have person can answer this issue.

However, some games have update which we need to skip them.
I just refer to pattern as below in app.xml file for 2 lines code
<version type="unsignedInt" length="4">15</version> <------------------------ usually change to value by +1 to be "16"
<title_version type="hexBinary" length="2">0000</title_version> <------------------------ there do not seems to have a fix value for "0000".
Where can I find the correct number?

I tried with Pikmin 3, downloaded with Wii U USB Helper Jap and Usa version, renamed the language file and encrypt with Nuspacker the Jap version with the corresponding common key on google, tried WUP installer Ameris and GX2 bouth with the same error: Verify WUP files are correct & complete. DLC/E.shop require Sig Patch. Tried the same download with uTikDH, same process rename Jpn with Eng folders, edit app.xlm, and the same error with both installers. Followed step by step the guide and some youtube videos and still the same error. It´s like I´m missing a step because I can´t even get to install it and see a freez screen, for the installer the encryption is faulty. Tried the same process with super mario 3D, same error. I hace the feeling that the Nuspacker is the problem.

what is written in your Run.bat of Nuspacker process?

Does putting the -encryptionKey in the Bat file change anything?
I'm really trying to understand what's missing to fix this problem because I have 2 Wii U Jpn and one I will try to sell so I need to know the process to help myself and the potential buyer to at list play some games in other languages rather than to see everything in japanese. Will keep testing and see what i'm doing wrong.

you might be able to fool the eshop into thinking you're in Japan. Hokkaido is usually the last location listed in the region, so you could select that, then make up an address. unlike American addresses, Japan uses biggest to smallest (the opposite), so prefecture/province will be listed first, then you're actual location will be listed last.

please try with common key which starts with "d7b..." you can find it by Google.

No changes at all, that common key is for Pikmin 3 jpn. I have tried with the USA version that start with the d7b code, but doesn't changes a think when trying to install. Will keep giving it some more tries.

I'm also on jap wii u with cbhc. Trying to install various us games without luck and came across this thread. I was searching around a bit too and came across this region free hack in the xml file.

Is this hack relevant to us? Would this let me install let say mario kart (US) directly on my jap wii u?
