At least you're honest about it.

I'm aware there are benefits, I just don't think they're anywhere near enough to make PC gaming the 'objectively better' option. A great option for the right type of gamer, sure, but definitely not for everyone, and I think a lot of the 'PC master race' crowd is too busy airing on their moral superiority junk to get that.
If it was just about "moral superiority," it wouldn't be objective, now would it? Console vs PC has nothing whatsoever to do with morality. I'll refer back to my first post in this thread: "(PC) does everything you would need to hack a console to do and more. Modding, cheats, free online play, compatibility with every controller, emulation, upgradeable hardware, the largest legacy game library by far, etc and so forth." The bottom line is that it comes down to an open platform versus a closed one, and that extends to hardware as well as software.

With the constant parts upgrades I've seen many PC gamers need over time I'm not entirely sure how true that is, especially with how expensive PC parts seem to be.
Upgrades are more a matter of want rather than need, but it's nice just to have the option. It comes down to the individual and what resolution/frame rate they're targeting.

Ah, because we all know how good of an option streaming games is.
I'm referring specifically to in-home streaming/remote play, which has worked flawlessly for me ever since 2016. You just need a decent dual-band router.

Damn, sounds to me like you're a traitor to the PC master race. Calling the cops, they're revoking your Windows key as we speak.
Lol. Yeah I've never not owned consoles/handhelds. As stated previously, that's where I got my start in gaming. Besides, Windows keys are $10 or less if you know where to look. :P

That's the fun part it isn't

Honestly that's a fair point in its own right. I can get down with that. Not quite 'objectively better' territory in my opinion, but a valid reason to prefer PC over consoles. Kinda like how I prefer Android to iOS, ya know? But I still think iOS is a good option for some folks. Just not me.

Yeah, having options is always pretty cool. I feel like gaming's at the point where graphical fidelity and performance are getting to a point of marginal return, so I'd hope someone with a lower spec PC can still survive fine enough if they aren't itching for all the 8K 120 FPS ray tracing junk.

Honestly didn't know there was a distinction tbh. Haven't tried it, can't imagine it'd be my personal optimal gaming experience, but it's gotta be leagues better than PlayStation Now. right?

Are you sure it's not more of an inferiority complex from the non-PC gamer?
I dunno man, I'm pretty content with what I've got. PC gaming just doesn't speak to me on a personal level, and none of its benefits really appeal to me.
Besides, it's not console gamers with an inferiority complex responding to anyone critiquing PC gaming with "haha PC master race tho"

Depends on perspective. A good pc has better hardware than any console, and even a cheap ass one has a better library than any unhacked console (yeah... Not doing the generations thing pays off in the end). It's more expensive and usually less easy to set up, but has more options, more peripherals, and so on.

But to get to the question : calling the pc a 'master race' is like calling NBA jam athletes 'superior' over a peewee team. It 's not somehow less arrogant because it's true. They're different leagues.
But where does it come from? I can also argue that when discussing best consoles, some just want to point out they like of games better because...
... And that's when you can start pointing fingers on who started it.

Any type of fanboy can be the worst, and they seem to exist in fairly equal numbers (or they're about as equally loud as each other anyway). I dunno, toxic fandoms can be terrible, but they do little to stop my enjoyment of the product in question. Case in point: Rick and Morty has a god awful fandom, its still a hilarious and great show though, and I still enjoy it despite the loud ones that give the show and fans of it, a bad name.

Yeah, remote play is for games you already own. It's just streaming from your PC to your living room TV, or to your phone. So the latency is much lower than streaming games from some server hundreds of miles away.

try being an "apple only" family you'll be laughed out of the room real quick by the PCMR
The main reason they get laughed at is because Apple has a history of abusing both customers and workers, a history too long for me to repeat in this thread, but stallman.org and Wikipedia are good sources in my opinion. I personally prefer to avoid Apple like the plague unless using their products is absolutely necessary, and I encourage others to do the same. You can do everything on a cheap mid-range laptop running Arch Linux that you can do on a Macbook or iMac or whatever, if not more. Apple's hardware is overpriced and they intentionally stifle user freedom or choice using DRM and anti-right-to-repair.

I'm not going to treat you like scum for buying something made by Apple, but I sure as hell am going to remind you that it's a bad decision. And then stop caring because it's not my business to worry about

While we're on the subject of Apple, from my personal experience, Apple fanboys are even worse than PCMR because they don't seem to listen to anyone and believe that having an Apple product makes them rich and superior. Why? Because "my laptop is sexier than yours." If the Apple logo isn't on it, it's poor people filth. The majority of Apple buyers aren't entirely like that, fortunately.

I've never seen a PC gamer act this way. Ever. Yes, they boast about their 32 GB of RAM and their 12 cores and their dual GPUs and their RGB, but they don't treat it like a fashion statement. It's an offer to join the "master race", not so much a derogatory "I'm a better person than you look how much money I have". Most of the time at least. No matter who you are though, calling yourself the "master race" in any unironic manner is just stupid. I'm sure there are PC gamers that act like this, I just haven't seen any. For those that do: touch some grass.

On the other hand, if you're buying a game console, I'm not going to really care because at the end of the day, PC gaming is a very broad subject that definitely has some barrier of entry. Especially because consoles are better at delivering a new experience and input methods, and having it mass-adopted as a standard (motion controls, touch controls, gyro) which is something that PC gamers struggle with because it's such a variable market where everyone's setup is different. Console manufacturers can just include what they want into every system and make it a readily available and inexpensive feature.

I don't have a problem with people from two different platforms politely talking about the pros and cons. You can learn a lot from that. The problem stems singlehandedly from people acting like they're hot shit because they bought X device instead of Y device etc

Wow, it got kinda savage here haha.

I honestly think that console gaming is a more purist experience. You have a box you stick something in that puts stuff on the screen for you to mash buttons on a controlling device. And it all was made for a single purpose, vidya gamez. No word processors, no spreadsheets, no command line. No Grub, no sudo, no repositories, just a console and a game and a person.

PC gaming offers a more hardcore experience, but hardcore doesn't necessarily translate into being a "pure" experience as you are typically worried about maximizing your sensory input. That's kind of the equivalent of saying F1 racing is what driving a car is about. Kind of but not really. On a console you are simply worried about playing a game. Stick it in, press power, mash buttons.

PC elitism is most certainly the most... dedicated. TBF though, there is a bit more to be finicky about as things aren't always(or often) good out of the box without some tinkering with at least game settings. New drivers, OS updates, game updates, etc all cause issues you don't typically worry about on a console.

The only reason that nintendo isn't on the top is because this is a primarily nintendo modding site
I'd say PC people are a close second tho, I primarily play games on PC and there's still a vocal minority of users who flex their builds simply because they blew more money on them (myself kinda included)

The worst ?:
Those that think "their" company really cares about "them".

TBH tho.
PCMasterrace and Sony are still high on the overcompensation scale.
Ninty fanboys have been taught humility by being badgered with high prices and drip-feed.

Harharhar.

🤔 This thread gives me GameFaqs vibes...

PC gamers on any launch announcement thread for a console: You should build a PC instead. My PC is better. You can buy a better PC. Etc.
All fanboys are annoying but PC gamers are just that extra bit more annoying
