I very much still care and hope you can figure out how to squash the bugs with WiiU-Shell :)
I have a Channel made but like you it doesn't exit lol
if you mean it either black screens or gets stuck at the wii u logo, I might have a solution or rather someone you can ask about that.

I was testing for @Laf111 , his ftp server, one of the builds got stuck there on the wii u logo. I forgot if it was the rpx version or the channel one (think the other may have black screened), but he fixed it. no issues with his latest release as I've tested both the rpx and channel one. :)

Its something to do with the RPX, someone did say what the problem was..
But if @Laf111 knows what changes need to be made to the RPX's code, then I'd like him to work his magic on this and the Retroarch RPX :)

it was when I was testing his addition of the pro controller, since he doesn't have one. seems like the wii u is very finicky when it comes to code.

it was most likely the rpx version. he originally sent me the channel version, which is when I learned about the versions.bin to downgrade. I hope he doesn't mind me mentioning that. we've become friends over the course of the testing.

So its something to do with the versions.bin? (I don't know what that is) :P if that is the same issue WiiU-Shell and RA share then I hope Laf111 will take a look at it.

A pain in the Ass :P

While I totally agree with you guys, we have to try to remember that Nintendo never meant for us to be able to do any of the stuff that gets discussed in these forums every day, even after almost a decade. So 5 - 6 years of hacking their code and mostly getting away with it is pretty nice IMHO (don't know exactly when the first boot exploits actually became publicly available, but yeah probably about that long ago).

@godreborn, if you could please find out what exactly Laf111 did to fix his issue, that would hopefully point me in the right direction. But without a hint about where to look, searching the fairly large code base for potential issues could take days, if not weeks without a proper debugger (and no machine powerful enough to run Cemu + debugger anyway).

I'm just poking fun. I'm very happy with the state we're in with the WiiU :P

sorry, what is Aroma?

I found out about it from another post on GBATemp: https://gbatemp.net/threads/eshop-access.584640/#js-post-9433032

Aroma is the shiny new homebrew environment that Maschell has been working on for quite some time. Its suppose to be a clean env without all the weird janky shit. The WUPS plugin system is integrated as well. It utilizes the FailST vulnerability that was also discovered by Maschell and can be injected into a system app, such as the Health & Safety app. Then system.xml can be modified to boot the injected system app for "CBHC like" behavior

what exactly Laf111 did to fix his issue
Hi all,

Sorry, i'm busy those days.

It is a bit hard to understand the issue you're talking about by reading all the messages left in this thread.
What is exactly the issue ?

I understand that the app does not go exit as expected.
Is it a Channel version or an HBL one ?
(HBL : only a RPX/ELF file and Channel version consist in creating a WUP package)

I downloaded the code of WiiU-Shell but i didn't download all needed librariries and so didn't compile the project.
So painfull... that's why i embedded the required libraries in WiiuFtpServer the first builds (i'm about to exclude the last one left = wut after been told that i stole the code on Discord...) My fault, i removed the headers in files to put my tracking patterns for a easier maintainability of the code.

Don't forget you can get and consult your app'log in storage_slc/logs with WiiUFtpServer.

For an HBL issue : you can simply try to add a "exit 0" and the end of the main (but i'll be surprised if it's enought..)
For a Channel version to return to the Wii-U Menu : you need to use procui and define a callback on the Home button press event).

Should looks like (in red the new code) :

OMG @Laf111, you are an absolute godsend!! In one post you have given me more information than all the research I've done and documentation I've been able to find...it is annoyingly scarce as I'm sure you're aware

Trust me, I know exactly what you mean about the pain of compiling a project that is so highly-dependent on other libraries...my first attempt took about a week! And that was after getting Gary's help with updating the code for the most-recent version of wut (at the time).

I didn't even know about the app logs in storage_slc/logs, nor about WiiUFtpServer, so I'll check them both out! But I imagine your ProcUI solution will fix the problem anyway, so thank you so much for that! :yay:

I'm definitely going to check out your other projects too, they look super-interesting!
