So, i bought a 360 awhile ago, and it happened to be flashed with the latest LT+3. I have never thought much about it, I don't really burn games and if i do backup them i prefer to do that on an hard drive, but the other day i came across a couple of undub patches for the fatal frame games that i'd like to try, and (since they're both compatible) i was wondering if they would work on a flashed 360. I don't plan on getting an rgh for the time being, i just want to try a couple of modded games

It should, the issue however is the format your patched ISO needs to be in.
For OG Xbox DVD backups to work on a flashed 360 drive, they need to be in the proper XGD1 format with Security Sectors etc.

I believe there were guides to convert the typical scene ISOs into 360 compatible ISOs, but I need to look where it was.

That's great to know, thank you
And yeah i heard that the iso most likely wouldn't work from the get go, but i don't mind having to deal with that. Good thing the xbox came with an original hard drive that works with og xbox games, now i just need to get some dvds like it's 2006 or something lmao
About the hard drive, i also have an unmodded 360 that i've used to play some games while connected to xbox live, that's where i've actually used the hard drive until now. If i connect the hdd to the flashed model and never connect it online, is it safe to plug it back in the unmodded console for online play?

No. Pending us getting some kind of private key (and even then I don't know if it is whitelisted) the only way to run modified xbox games is to have a RGH/JTAG box and also make sure you put the hacked version of the original xbox emulator in the relevant partition. Even then most would probably still say just get an original xbox and mod that, though I am not sure if prices are still quite as rock bottom as they once were.

There are ways to run stock copied disc original xbox games on flashed DVD drives, though things got a bit odd at various points with different updates so I am not sure what goes. Equally 95% of original xbox Scene rips will not be original format, there was a spate of redumps ( https://web.archive.org/web/20190815155707/http://www.abgx.net/xbox_releases_date.txt ) but I doubt you will find those in many places. Don't think there is much scope for rebuilding isos to the proper format either, especially not if you are more familiar with the more recent stuff on the Wii that rebuilds things from WBFS back to even fully padded stuff, and if they are ripped ones (various groups would tweak files to fit on single layer DVDs/get smaller downloads/be able to do the multi game per disc thing with more still) then good luck again.

Oh ok, that's of course true - if the main executable is modified, it won't work, since the emulator checks the signature.
I thought with undub, it's just the sound files replaced, which (in theory) should just work.
But once code has been modified, the emulator will deny to execute it - except it you are are running on a JTAG/RGH system.

I see, thanks for clarifying that as it is a bit confusing. Also, i can find original xboxes for 40€ near me and i do want to get one eventually, but i have other expenses right now so i thought i'd try some titles on the 360

I should check that, i don't think the executable files are modified at all with the undubs, because it's just a matter of swapping the audio and video files. There have been attempts at adding english subs to the first fatal frame (maybe that required a modded executable?) but it didn't go anywhere, somebody found there were placeholders for english text, but it literally just said subtitle 1,2, etc. It's probably possible to edit those and add english subtitles, but someone should have the patience to actually write them manually... In fact, the undub for the first game is playable in any of the available languages except english, as tecmo never implemented the subtitle engine properly for that particular language. Anyway, i'll definitely give it a shot someday. i have alot of other games to play before that happens, but the upcoming fatal frame 5 remaster on xbox reminded me i wanted to check out the og xbox versions
