These are typically anime i convert over to save space; I just have a few questions. I should note the audio size is only 8.24 MiB and the video Is typically 55.1MiB. Usually encoding in a BR of 328Kbs using Bencos sometimes encode the audio with MediaCoder Audio Edition.

1. Why are MKV usually .2MiB smaller in size then MP4 using same source audio and video?

2. Also it seems when i mux the 2 files into MP4 it adds 1 sec onto the duration of the clip. Yet when mux into MKV it adds it perfect, right duration, and file size.

3. Why is it when I demux the the source file the audio stream size = 100% yet when i mux into MP4 it shows stream size = 13% and still it shows nothing for stream size in MKV?

4. Which one is better? I mean really better.

Im not complaining about .2MiB or maybe I am but I'm curious. I am not hinting when muxing 2 MP4 cause that tends to add alot of file size to the audio :( I know MKV is not that well supported but im trying to save space and mostly watch on my T.V. So i often find myself asking should i do MKV and watch on wii or MP4 and watch on PS3?

Thanks in advance for the prompt response.

1. The container itself takes up size as well. The MKV container is probably smaller in size in comparison to the MP4 container.

2. Can't really answer this, but it might the program you are using to mux adding this extra second in.

4. Though this really is debatable, MKV is better than MP4 in most (if not all) areas.

MKV is becoming the leading standard for HD encodes that with great compression and at the same time powerfull muxing tools, i.e. intergrated subtitles and multi audio files. When used in conjuction with the x265 codec it is the best

to learn more on how to make high quality encodes check the link

edit: I believe you can stream mkv to ps3, if i'm not mistaken.
