Bit late replying to this :P Embercold is also porting the PCSXrearmed Core to OG Wii too ;) I've seen your good work on WiiSXRX :)
Between your work and Embercold's, it should provide a nice boost in PS1 Game compatibility :)

So the all users controlling the menu thing isn't the actual problem but the real problem is being worked on anyway? I'm confused about what controller issues were fixed, since changing Port 1 to the Pro Controller still softlocks the console.
"All users control menu" being gone is not a bug or issue beyond being inconvenient. The feature was simply removed and hasn't been replaced yet.

For a long time, disconnecting then reconnecting a Pro Controller or Classic Controller literally did not work, the controllers would not function at all, as player one, player two, or any higher numbers you might imagine. This wasn't a menu issue, it was RetroArch-wide. This issue was fixed.

The second issue, the one you're talking about, is that manually changing the controller order is broken. This issue is the one I said quarky is aware of but is not fixed yet.

For what it's worth, changing ports automatically is working correctly, so if you want to use a Pro or Classic Controller as your player/port 1 controller, you can just move the Wii U GamePad away from the console to stop it being mapped as port 1. RetroArch will just map whatever controller is available first to port 1. If the GamePad is around, it will always be available first.

Is it just me or is L3 and R3 on the WiiU Gamepad not working in RA?
Same deal here mate, it sucks.
But at least I got Prboom set up on RetroArch, and blasting demons has made me happy in the meantime.

Hmm, it was working not long ago, I'll see if I can narrow it down. Thanks for confirming :)

EDIT: I've gone back as far as 1.9.0 and it still wasn't working :/

Yeah, been a long standing issue as well. Call it one of many controller issues that plagued the Wii U.

Also, awesome to see how close we are to running PS1 on the Wii U via RetroArch. Goes to show you how being persistent will yield results in due time.

It never worked as far as I know.
L3 and R3 work in version 1.8.8!! (couldn't find a version 1.8.9) So at least we can say it broke AFTER 1.8.8 :)
I noticed the All Users Control Menu option is still present in 1.8.8 too.. related??

EDIT: in the 1.8.9 changelog it states it removed the All Users Control Menu option :P

It never worked as far as I know. I've been using RetroArch Wii U since 1.6.x and never was able to map those two buttons on any core.
Weird, because I clearly remember using those two buttons before as hotkeys for loading and saving states just fine. So I do believe they did work, but have stopped working at some point.
EDIT: Beat me to the punch @ploggy, damn it!

Hi guys.
Please let me know how to easy update retroarch to newest version on wii u?
I read somewhere that i only need to put cores from new version to my old version on sd card. Is that right?

Also, i am using retroarch Channel forwarder. Is it connected with specific version of retroarch or can i use newest version and forwarder will still works?

Any help appricited

If you want to update from a older working Retroarch you can simply use the Online Updater to update your Cores to their newest versions ;)

Or if you want to update all your Cores manually, you can grab the latest builds here, then simply extract the Core folder from the zip to your SD:/Retroarch folder ;) (in some rare cases you may need to delete your Retroarch.CFG.)

Yes just the Cores :) The Channel just launches the Cores ;)

Of course if you do a full clean install, then you'll need to copy everything over. But if your just updating.. The Cores is all you need.

I've submitted an Issue on the NXengine Github page about the Frozen Enemies and Bullets.
In the meantime here's an older build of NXengine that works fine :)

I also submitted an issue about the L3 and R3 not working too.. Hopefully they'll get looked into soon.

Just curious, what games are you playing in Retroarch on Wii U where you need the L3 or R3 buttons?
That's the funny thing, I didn't notice until recently that they weren't working and haven't been since 1.8.8 :P but still.. they SHOULD be working, that's the point.

Plus, they are incredibly useful for Hotkeys precisely because they are unused by many cores. Not to mention that when PlayStation 1 is eventually added to RetroArch, a lot of the buttons will be unavailable for Hotkeys because of that system alone.
