Cave Story is still broken, but apparently it's broken on a few systems so its not WiiU specific.
The Fuse Core is working now!
Talking about iffy cores..
I wish the issue with the saving in PrBoom could be fixed :/
I've been waiting on doing a complete pistol-start UV run of both Doom and Doom 2, but the fact that the saving/loading is borked on PrBoom as a whole is just really bad.

It seems the specific culprit and code at fault has been pinned down, it's just a matter of someone interested in fixing it:

This isnt WiiU specific either then? ask autechre to revert just that one bad commit?

I've been using LowRes NX, the sound seems to be broken for some games.
LowRes' graphics a little messed too, its something to do with endian issues iirc?

Yeah it seems to be an issue with the PrBoom core itself, not the WiiU port, as I have tested it on WiiU, Switch and another device, and it crashes when saving/loading for a 2nd time.

I could tell Autechre, but it seems those commits were done by Ferk and not by Autechre, and sadly Ferk hasn't posted or said anything on the issue at matter.

Side little thing I noticed...
The PrBoom core is sitting at 666 commits. :tpi::evil:

Tested new compressed cores and they load faster indeed. Retroarch main program also loads faster to menu.

It's better to turn off the option "Always reload core..." So that contents load almost instantly.

He could still revert the commit as long as it doesn't break anything else.. or perhaps fix the underlining issue :)

So was this controller issue fixed yet? It sounded like someone was working on it?

Has anyone tested controllers? Controller connecting and disconnecting no longer appears but my Pro controller doesn't work when changed to input 1. Only gamepad is working. But as soon as I change Pro Controller to Input 1, Pro Controller and Gamepad both stop responding. Turning on Gamepad or Pro controller makes Input 1 Disabled. I don't remember it being like that before controllers broke. Only gamepad seem to work currently.

I think it's still being worked on. Someone asked an identical question in the recent Twitter post, in which Libretro responded with:

"Basically controllers are not broken but only controller 1 can control the menu. The 'all users control the menu' feature has to be reimplemented again in a clean way."

That response is just a misunderstanding of what the issue is. People complained about the controls being "broken" when the all users control menu feature was removed, then some time after that, controls were actually broken in several ways (and stayed that way from 1.8.9 until current 1.9.6 builds, when the more severe of the control issues, where Pro/Classic Controllers could not be synced at all, was fixed by quarky).

The person running the RetroArch Twitter doesn't personally maintain the Wii U port or know what issues it does or doesn't have, so they don't realize controls were/are actually broken and they think people are still talking about the "all users control menu" feature. You're going to get a more accurate response from somebody who is more engaged with the Wii U port.
Repro'd the pro controller menu thing - what I find particularly odd is that if you leave the controller in slot 2 and play a multiplayer game it seems to work fine, so it's not like RA isn't seeing the input.. odd.
As I said, quarky already fixed the first issue (alongside all of the other recent Wii U-specific fixes) and they're aware of the remaining controller issue.

Wow, this sounds really nice, i wasn't aware of it finally taking traction, i lost the sight of it since 2017. Would be a great alternative for Wii U users inside RA. I'll check the link.
Bit late replying to this :P Embercold is also porting the PCSXrearmed Core to OG Wii too ;) I've seen your good work on WiiSXRX :)
Between your work and Embercold's, it should provide a nice boost in PS1 Game compatibility :)

and the best part is it's seems to have given the WiiU a second wind with Quarky doing his awesome work with RA fixes :)

I just updated all the cores and assets for the WiiU's SD on my work's laptop. Now just to wait until I get home to try it out (and update prboom through the online updater lol)

Yeah they were worried about Rewind not working it the commit was reverted, but it seems it works fine afterall.
Guess I have a good play session pending this weekend then :P

So the all users controlling the menu thing isn't the actual problem but the real problem is being worked on anyway? I'm confused about what controller issues were fixed, since changing Port 1 to the Pro Controller still softlocks the console.

Thanks but its all Embercold :) I've just been waiting for this for a long time and become a stalker on the Bounty page :) That and I like spreading the news updates wherever I can :P
Considering all these games are currently running in interpreter mode on WiiU the fps is really good..
Also for future reference, you can take screenshots from within Retroarch ;) you just have to setup a bind in the Input/hotkey settings :) (the screenshot wont display the FPS though)

Something I forgot to mention too is just how good PS1 looks on the WiiU Gamepad :P
