Diablo Immortal delayed to 2022, controller support being considered

Diablo Immortal, Blizzard's controversial mobile spin-off of the Diablo series, has been delayed until the first half of 2022. According to a blog post on Blizzard's website, the delay is necessary to implement changes based on feedback from the public alpha that took place in December 2020 and January 2021. The blog details a list of changes, though they seem to be fairly substantial, touching on PvE and PvP elements, core features and endgame content.

There is also a mention of controller support being worked on, though it's not officially confirmed. This development could be seen as a response to the initial controversy surrounding Diablo Immortal's announcement; hardcore Blizzard fans--mainly PC players, though also console players to some extent--didn't feel catered to and were offended that a new Diablo title was being released on mobile rather than where the fans are. Controller support being implemented into the mobile release would make future console or PC ports easier. It is worth pointing out, however, that those concerns have already been addressed with the announcement of Diablo IV.

Lol, ofc, in middle of the chaos that's happening on blizzard. They should just cancel this, nobody wants this.
A lot of people would play this actually. I bet the people whoo boo'd it at BlizzCon will play it as soon as it launches because they're Blizzard fans and Blizzard fans will eat up whatever shit Activision Blizzard shovels onto their plate.

I remember hearing about this game a long time ago. They still haven't even released it yet? Modern Blizzard is a joke

Go and focus on Mobile games crap when Xboxes and PS5s are selling like crazy, the Nintendo Switch has as many games as the 3DS and the Nintendo DS and DSi have COMBINED (Without counting the GBA games that can be played on the DS) and gaming laptops or just computers in general have never sold better.

Go on I am sure it will be fine!

there's a whole fanbase that's been waiting on this since rumours of the potential developemt for mobile gaming. playing diablo on the go, is a great idea for people who can't afford to get a Switch or don't want to buy a Switch. Personally, I'd have released it this year without controller support, since there's work-around's to use one and a cell phone is a controller as well. Blizzard-Activision should just continue their production of Diablo Immortal, D2, and D4, even if wrong-doings have went on within the internal company. They shouldn't shit on their base and they'll only lose more if they continue to flake out...

I don't think so, most of the Diablo fan base will play Diablo 2 Remastered because of how faithful it is to the original, and probably never touch Immortal or D4. I think they're trying to attract a different, more mobile-oriented audience with Immortal, but then that begs the question: why bother adding controller support?

ugh yeah, you're right.

Eh; I actually hated stuff from Diablo 2 so I only played the first Diablo.

Nowadays I think I would play Diablo 2... but is not at the top of my list.

Basically, Mobile games nowadays make a lot of money but that comes mostly from pay to win games.

So nope, I won't play this mobile game.
