The nicest experience imo is using vita-launcher, I have the vita boot to it instead of the stupid bubbles lol then you just need to setup retroarch and daedulusx64 (see attached image, all emulators,psp.ps1 and vita in one place, it looks nice!)

You are fine with the cores in Retroarch for SNES.I prefer SNES 9x 2005 but with some games 9x2002 works better.Unfortunatly, some of the newest fantranslations like Song of an Angel are unplayable.
Retroarch is also my first choice when it comes to all the other 8/16Bit consoles and portables.Even exotics like 32X,Turbo Grafx CD or SegaCD work well(need Bios).
My standalone emulators are
PFBA for NeoGeo and Capcom CPS1 and 2
OpenBor for Street of Rage Clones
Adrenaline for PSP,PS1
DaedalusX64 for few working N64 games like Zelda and Paper Mario
Scummvm for Point and Click Adv and old Dungeon Crawlers like Might and Magic 4 and 5.
The mousecontrols with Stick/Touch/Buttons works surprisingly well
Pico 8 for small,short 8Bit like games
Hopes that helps
