i have a 5.05 i bought already set up, not touched it since getting it and im ? as to what to do as i wanted to play my disc based games for using mods/cheats ect but most of my games likely are for firmwares above 5.05.

so not sure if its worth upgrading to the latest firmware or not, not interested in running backups, just playing retails games with mods/cheats.

You have to backup your game and then get the backport to make it work. But honestly when I looked into copying the game it was a huge hassle that's why I didn't do it. From what I saw it was better to just grab the game from the net opposing to copying over your game.

PS3 era was easy once you copied your game you was finished but PS4 you have to do a few steps and not all games are guaranteed. When you dump the retail game on the HDD you can't just unlock it since I saw you have to get a fake pkg of the game and etc..etc.. just seemed like too much work it was just better I play my legal games on disk and just grab whatever I didn't have.

PS4 games are cheap now that's why on many occasions if I can just buy the game for $10 opposing to downloading 50gb I rather do that.

Im not interested in copying or anything like that just running games off disc and using netcheat like tools to apply cheats over wifi

Gotcha something that might interest you If you update your 7.55 you can play games off your disk from August 2020 and below

But I heard its really bad the stability for the jailbreak. 5.05 seems to be the best but it's a tradeoff

So 1 month later and I barely use it. It seems to be a pain to set up the external to transfer the games I had looked up how to do it but it isn't as simplified and plug and play as the PS3 was. I'm just going to put it in storage for a future permeant jailbreak because Mira/Hen isn't sufficient.

10 years from now you will not be able to connect wifi to the PS4 anymore so the jailbreak will be useless without an internet connection. I hope 3 years from now at the EOL we have a permeant CFW and cooler exploits.

setting up an external just requires you to format it as extended storage. then, use a flash drive or another hdd to install pkg files to the extended storage device.

you also don't need the internet to exploit the ps4. I use a sandisk connect, and I haven't been on the internet for years. it's a wifi dongle that sets up communication between it and the ps4 or the ps4 and the pc, using it as an intermediary.

I’ll take a look into it. But you don’t think the Wi-Fi dongle will not work anymore with the new Wi-Fi signals in the future?

it's a 2.4GHz dongle, and all it needs to work with is the ps4 or pc. the ps4 phat is only 2.4GHz, I think slim and pro are either just like most pc's nowadays.

they make a 5GHz dongle, a few of them. the one I have is the panda. I was going to use it with drcsim, but I encountered some problems with one of the linux dependencies. the rest installed fine. the one in question had been delisted, and the deb file to install it directly requires tons of dependencies that you have to install manually through deb files as well. anyway, I don't know if it works with the ps4 or in this manner. drcsim is supposed to display the gamepad on your pc's screen, and the gamepad (wii u btw) is 5GHz unlike the system itself, so you have to use a 5GHz dongle.
