I've heard that 80% of WiiWare games work as .wad files, however games such as Castlevania needs something else to work on my moded Wii, does anyone know how to do that and/ or has a list of the 80% of games that work right off the bat as .wad files?

All original wads should work when installed to your Wii's real nand/system menu, including Castlevania.

It sounds like you're talking about wad compatibility when installed to enumand. Roughly 80% of wads work when installed to emunand, and then accessed via CISO method (the default in USB loaders with emunand support). The other 20% require neek2o emunand access in order to work, which can be toggled in both USB Loader GX and Wiiflow.

Yea, that's what I was talking about! So I just need to install neek2o and I'll be all set?

I don't remember too much about the wii, but if you're going to use emunand, create two of them: one for normal emunand; the other for neek2o. if you use usb loader gx (at least on the vwii), you need to install the game twice and have the normal emunand in custom folders. the reason you have to install twice is for the normal emunand to display the game, then a second time as neek2o. change the emunand you're using to neek2o in the game's settings. vania is one of those games. I've never tried the game without neek2o, so I don't know what it does (probably black screen at some point).

You definitely need the neek2o files installed if you want a loader to launch emunand wads in neek2o mode.

If you're using neek2o, the emunand (system menu) settings are the ones used by those games, so you'll want to boot into the emunand at least once in order to set things like display resolution and make sure the wiimotes are synced. This is also good to do because neek is... weird and sometimes doesn't work at first then starts working after a couple of boots.

EDIT: just want to countermand this

if you're going to use emunand, create two of them: one for normal emunand; the other for neek2o. if you use usb loader gx (at least on the vwii), you need to install the game twice and have the normal emunand in custom folders. the reason you have to install twice is for the normal emunand to display the game, then a second time as neek2o.
You don't need to create more than one emunand. CIOS and neek2o are two ways of accessing (the same) emunand. neek2o is like "100%" emunand, everything gets redirected. CIOS is less comprehensive, which is why it doesn't work with that finicky 20% of wads that need to be better convinced they're not a simulation. But the same emunand and its installed wad can be accessed through either method.

you can fix wiimotes from something I learned from @Cyan . to do so, inject the syscon into the emunand. just have the neek2o nand as the custom folder in usb loader gx, then choose inject syscon (think it's under features). this is useful for any wiimote, or pro controller on the wii u, that has been added after neek2o's emunand was created. they won't sync correctly otherwise. you only have to do this once.

This is true but I'm not sure if OP is using USB Loader GX (or knows to create an emunand in the first place - if so I recommend using ModMii to generate it).

What's going on under the hood with that USB Loader GX function is that it's importing your realnand settings (including things like wiimote sync) and copying them over to the emunand. Here's the file operation I do in order to accomplish the same:

Extract ("Wii NAND Extractor") from NAND backup:
cert.sys from \sys
\shared2\ folder
Copy these to Emunand at, respectively,
nands\[[name of nand]]\sys\cert.sys
nands\[[name of nand]]\shared2\

I've never done it manually. I do use usb loader gx though. I used to use cfg usb loader on the wii itself. wiiflow, never used.

My wii setup is through USBLGX. I dumped my wii's nand onto my SD and installed my .wad files from my usb.
