Just bought a new amazing Kingston Canvas Go Plus 256GB and I copy all my old 128GB mSD data to the new one which has SXos, games, saves and a few other stuff...

Now with the new mSD after injecting TX payload the console always show no boot.dat file, however it's in the card and the 2nd time I send the payload it always work fine.

This never happens with both my old 2x 128GB mSD's only the new...

Do you think it could be the cluster size? The new is set at 256 K if I'm not mistaken and the 128GB are less...

All the mSD's are formatted as exFat

Somethings to try:
- Format the new card using a different tool. I personally use EaseUS Partition, but there are many others out there.
- If you haven't clobbered the old card, create an image from your 128GB and use that for your new 256GB card. Then resize the partition to get your full 256GB space. This will match the format of your old card; it will also transfer any partition that you may have have had in your old card (such as emuNAND??)

Format the SD card with the Nintendo Switch for compatbility, that's the solution.
Else you need to use special software if you want it in FAT32.

Maybe I'll try just formatting it with the same cluster size as the 2 128GB cards I have. There's only 1 partition and a empty space with 32MB for what the mSD needs and for higher speed (the 2 128GB have 16MB with no partition), this card almost completely annihilate full bus speed on continuous read and write as I get like 98MBs on a very old PC.

I only use emunand as files on the mSD. I haven't tested if it's fake but with such speeds it's even pointless and the store I bought the chances to get a fake is probably 0 or close to it.

I really use just exFat and never had problems...
SXOS hates all my Sandisk cards for example and refuses to read them until I format them with hekate
Only had problems with SanDisk A1 128GB but not related, had 3 defective ones where speed was normal but after writing anything the card speed would get stuck at around 30MBs and would come back to normal after formatting but after writing anything again same crap...

The SanDisk 128GB A2 I have works perfectly fine but this newer Kingston completely kills it on speed...

It's worth a try to format using the same cluster size.
Are you using EmuNAND at all? I stopped using SXOS a few months back, but I was using EmuNAND on a partition, so if I were to upgrade my SD card, I could not simply just copy the files from one SD to another. I would have to replicate the EmuNAND partition. That's why I mentioned the disk image thing.
It seems to me like the new card has some sort of latency associated with booting up, therefore the 2nd inject works. What happens if you enter RCM, but wait several seconds before injecting the payload?

Haven't tried anything yet, but doesn't matter leaving it in RCM for a bit...

However it only takes me like 3 seconds more to do the 2nd inject becatse after it shows missing boot.dat I simply click once on power button and just have to do power+volup and it injects right away (I have left joy-con modded with a ON/OFF switch :)).

I'm also thinking since this is a very fast mSD I wounder if it requires more power to turn it ON, but have to do the format first to see if it works.

On the PC it works fine all the time though...

I use a Patriot EP Series 512GB A1 / V30 SDXC without any problems formated to exfat. You either have issues with the data on your sd card, issues with the SD card itself or an issue with your sd card reader tray or connector. I would start by cleaning the contacts on the connector of the SD card tray(isopropyl alcohol), and make sure they are well connected. Then re-format and transfer over a fresh set of files (ams, Hekate, fusee.....) And test. If problem persists, then use a different SD card and test with a new set of files again.
Good luck and let us know what you find.

It's not the card reader, both my old Kingston A1 and SanDisk A2 (both 128GB) work right away on 1st payload sent.

Will maybe try today a new format and see how it goes.

Ps: the new mSD is working pretty good so far and normal with amazing speed just simply never work on 1st payload on switch which is strange...

Bump.

Already tried many different exFat quick formats with different allocation sizes (with/without the 32MB free no volume), already tried Fat32, nothing works

Never tried was a full Format but it's pointless as I already did a full sectors check on the mSD card and all read\write fine (no bad\corrupt sectors on the whole card)...

PS: Guess I will format back to exFat default settings and leave as is, just have to send the payload twice which is like 2 or 3 more seconds only anyway^_^

EDIT: Will send a mail to Kingston asking why I have to send the payload twice with this card :rofl2::toot:

I haven't fully tested with the common used app because just the speed of it almost topping up the full UHS-I clearly isn't fake.

But anyway I have done a full sector check and all passed green so it probably would be similar to the app that writes the whole mSD to check if it's fake...

Ps: it's really something to do with this new fastest mSD, maybe power consumption related, I have no idea. I had a 128GB version of it in my phone, tested after and it's the exact same thing, the card is simply not Switch friendly from RCM

I wouldn't buy anything other than Samsung or sandisk
Had 3 defective SanDisk A1 mSD cards so thats the brand I'm most careful when buying...

Gladly the SanDisk A2 I have is fine but this newer Kingston is considerably better specially in write speeds.

I don't think there's anything better currently than those new Kingston A2 mSD.

The good thing with SanDisk is the price but I definitely noted difference in responsiveness overall on emunand on the Kingston A2 Vs the SanDisk A2 both in the same exact category.

Ps: however sadly they are all still fake advertising since not a single current A2 mSD can even pass all A1 minimum requirements yet they get A1 and A2 stamp:angry:

Being using Sandisk on switch A1 200 go and A2 400 go and didn’t went in any issues so far, (maybe lucky ? ). Used Kingston brand for years on other devices ( that’s indeed a Kingston ssd hosting windows pro on my pc) and never had issues. Hard to tell which brand could be “best”.

It's the Sandisk A1 128GB that I had problems they were all defective (the 256GB A1 I tested from same store was fine).

But most likely is just because Sandisk is from Western Digital and that brand have only been very bad for me since 2011 because I already got like 13 or more defective WD products (sadly almost all with same exact problem) and therefore it's a NO for me.

Won't be buying a WD product so soon, went for Seagate and all started working. But I still risked on the Sandisk A2 128GB after the 3 bad Sandisks 128GB A1 and it's working good at leastB-)

This is what I got with the Kingston Canvas Go Plus!

It's just a old random test I did once, but I'm sure it goes a bit better since this is using my old 2011 PC and I didn't even tested on my I7 laptop with PCI-express card reader which could get more. But sure just like Sandisk if you buy their overpriced card reader you can get above the UHS-I speeds around 170MB\s but that's all BS as it needs software on windows.

This is the kind of "fake" speeds you can expect with the Kinsgton if you buy their expensive card reader and install their crap software:

Only the React Plus speeds are probably totally normal here but thats due to the UHS-II which sadly almost every device just like switch lacks :(
