Time for another stupid update form Nintendo...smh. If only we had a new game launching everytime we get this "improved system stability & user experience" update, we'd have a sizeable amount by now.

I recently installed bowser's inside story (not sure how I forgot about this game), and I made a nand backup with all my current titles. I might update tomorrow, then make another nand backup.

Haha, time to make the decade-old joke about the generic stock quote they use in exploit-patch updates amirite?

I'm surprised they're still bothering to patch exploits. And kind of still doubt it until I see proof.
On the other hand, them adding strings related to shutting down 3DS online services is far more believable. That'll probably happen within this year (sadly)

I can't imagine them shutting down online multiplayer or the eShop just yet. They haven't shut down the Wii U's yet, and that'd be first to go easily. Maybe some smaller online features, like the theme shop or badge game or something.

They patched my second set of browser exploits and NbaYoh's ssloth vuln (safe mode SSL module).
Really 4 patched vulns since safecerthax can't be launched without ssloth.

They already shut down Mario Maker's online and that was by far the most popular Wii U game for online (followed by Splatoon and Mario Kart 8)
It was only a matter of time until the rest followed. And I fully expect them to shut down both the Wii U and 3DS online at the same time. So it doesn't exactly come as a surprise. Can't say for sure if it'll be this year but that's my guess. They have discontinued consoles and games for both platforms and since both have free online, Nintendo are only losing money on it. Sad to say it but Nintendo have become just as cash grabby as every other big publisher, if it's not making them money, why would they keep it?

Are any of those actually used by current entrypoints?

BrowserhaxXL was being used in the .hacks guide as a userland entrypoint for about the last 7 months. It was really convenient.
We'll have to fall back to seedminer which takes more time (and headaches). At least for the meantime.

Ssloth -> safecerthax was used for a couple months in the .hacks guide while I was still working on the old3ds version of browserhaxXL.

I see, I haven't been following it as much since I haven't touched my 3DS in years. Good to know, thanks.

I think the main reason why it isn't quite as likely: The only reason Wii and DS online shut down as soon as it did is because of the GameSpy shutdown, so its timing can't really be used as precedent.- As far as I know, other consoles haven't quite shut down online for most games yet.
Mario Maker is a bit of an odd one, because it's been succeeded by SMM2, and its online server costs, I'd imagine, are much more than most other games, which mostly amount to peer-to-peer matchmaking.
I can see why they'd shut it down... but they didn't even shut it down completely! It's pretty much in a "read only" mode where you can play any levels that have already been uploaded.
