Hi

starting from yestarday, every time i turn on my Wii U, it appears a message saying that there are 2 USB device connected and I have to disconnect one. I have connected both a USB key (in HIDDEN mode with UStealth) for GC/Wii games and an USB hdd for Wii U games. I'm using a new 256Gb usb key, this one: https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B07HPX38XC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It also happens very often that the USB key becomes "un-hidden" and i have to connect it to the pc and use UStealth in order to HIDE it again.Do you think that it could be an issue related to the USB key?
Do you suggest any particular usb key model?

thank you!

probably the usb key, though I compiled the latest version of mocha before it was discontinued, and it was able to see through ustealth. I guess it's due to it being compatible with fat32.

afaik, the way ustealth works is that it changes one of the bytes in the first sector, so that's no longer recognizable. I think you can see what's going on with powershell, but I'm not sure.

HxD should be able to do it as well, through hex. I think you can get the drive location from powershell (don't unstealth it or format it), then use that in HxD to see the hex of the drive. I've never done it though.

I don't recall what's changed, but afaik, it's one byte. I think the info is in the ustealth thread. how to open that drive is an option in the hex editor. I just haven't done it. there, you can verify it really is hidden. not that it matters much, because something is likely wrong with that usb key.

probably, there may be a delay upon boot. I use and sd card for cube games, but an hdd for wii ones. cube games take a few moments to load and the speed is likely comparable to that. they do work though, and at full speed.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I do understand the speed thing though. I bought a flash drive that's about 350MB/s. it was the fastest at the time. it's what I used to dump ps4 games and install pkgs on that system. it doesn't have any indicator though, and it's kinda fat, but it works. no reason for that with the ps4, since the dumper says percentage every 60 seconds, and installing a pkg gives you a gauge.

yes i noticed that even in my current usb key, even if it has 400MB/s speed, GC games take some seconds during the initial boot. But after that, they work fine.
The 128Gb model of the same usb key that i currently have, has 400MB/s speed, but i would like to try a different usb model...
I found aso this one:
https://www.amazon.it/Samsung-Memor...keywords=usb+key+128gb&qid=1627331369&sr=8-10

it has same speed, 400MB/s, it should be better than the previous one I linked..

I don't know how it is with an hdd, because I've never used one with cube games. there may be a slight delay there as well, but I'm not sure.

not really. vania rebirth adventure is a known problematic title, probably more so if it's the wrong region. you can change the region with showmiinand. just link it to the vwii nand, then I think it's right click, then change region (change it to region free), and it probably will work.

thanks, got it. I added the wad game into the menu, then right click --> Change region --> Region Free.
Aftee that, it isn't available a SAVE button, i suppose the game is automatically saved with the new Region, right? And after that, what i have to do? I read in the warning that appears when i run Shomiiwads, that modifying a wad file, can brick the console..do you think that it is safe to install this wad on my PAL console?
thanks!

you should use emunand if you don't want any risk. probably won't harm things, but I use emunand. though, I use usa versions of things only. usb loader gx can make an emunand and inject wad files under features in settings.

i'm realy sorry but i don't know what does it means to "use an emunand"..:(
Next step, i have to copy my modded wad file in my WAD folder in the sd card, and then...? I have to run USB Loadr GX i suppose, but i don't know which are the following steps...

thank you for your help!

I don't know what the option is called, but create an emunand (should be under features), set the emunand location under custom folders, then inject the wad = no risk. see if it works then.
