Hey all. I recently got a new Micro SD card due to my old one turning out to be corrupt, and I was wondering whether I just need to do the zzBlank.img thing and then I can just transfer over my old files that I backed up from the old card?

I'm following this guide: https://www.wellpcb.com/special/sd2vita.html

Is there anything else that I would need to do?

Thanks in advance.

An update: After doing the format and tranferring everything over, I've run into some issues. My home screen layouts were all gone from their previous layout from my old card after refreshing Live Area. Games seem to be stuck on loading screens, and I need to power it off to restart them.

The only differences this time around is that I used YAMT instead of the zzblank.img and I changed the cluster size of my card to 64k kb instead of 128 kb. Would that have any effect?

Use 64kb cluster, that is the ideal size for larger card, if you use 128kb you probably end up wasting too much space.

The YAMT guide? I went through the entire guide. Just for clarification, I meant that my last card was formatted with zzblank.img so that's one thing that's different because this time around I used YAMT.

Follow the guide, if YAMT doesn't work for you use StorageMgr, you should zzblank your card first then format.

After testing it with h2testw, I formatted my card with File Explorer to exFat and 64 kb cluster size. Then I followed the YAMT guide to a T, so the cluster size thing was done BEFORE I followed the YAMT guide. After I finished following the guide, I moved all of my backed up files into the Vita, and after refreshing LiveArea, that's when I started having issues.

Ok, I'll definitely do that if this method ends up being the cause of the issues. Just to make sure, is the guide I linked earlier up to date? It covers everything I need to do, and it isn't missing any crucial steps?

The method you linked is very old, it is for early day of SD2Vita, YAMT is the newest SD setup for the vita, you can use StorageMgr if you don't want to use YAMT and point your SD2Vita as your ux0, if you already tested the card and confirm it is legit, then proceed with YAMT.

the guide @Shadow#1 linked you to should work for yamt. I'm using another version of yamt lite myself, which is by @Aurora Wright, developer of luma. it doesn't create options in system menu, because there's no real need to with yamt lite, which is what most people would need.

Hmm. Now that I think about it, it could have to do with some files that I didn't transfer over. Instead of replacing the newer files with my old ones since they had the same file name, I just decided to skip over them. I feel this could be it, but would that be a safe bet?

you should copy over all files including ones that are related to the os and hidden files, which you can enable in folder settings in windows.

did you uncheck hide protected system files from your windows control panel-> folder options -> view tab?

You maybe didn't copy everything over also.

show hidden files, folders, and drives, and hide protected operating system files, which should be unchecked.

Yeah, I definitely did. Since the YAMT guide has you copying over the files from the uma0 partition to the ux0, it created a bunch of new files. Since I had those files in the backup as well, then I chose to keep the newer files instead of replacing them with the backups so this could be the issue.

Yeah, its unchecked. The entire reason that setting is unchecked in the first place was for the first time I hacked my Vita a year ago haha
