The Steam Summer Sale for 2021 has begun

steam.png

Prepare your wallets, because Steam's famous yearly Summer Sale event has begun. Discounting hundreds of games from any and every genre, this is the quintessential time to pick up any PC games you've been eyeing. Beginning today and lasting until July 8th, you'll be able to find deals on tons of games, with certain highlights including Halo: The Master Chief Collection for $19.99, Horizon Zero Dawn for $29.99, and for those who might not have already purchased it 10 different times in the past, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim: Special Edition for $15.99. As always, there's a little seasonal Steam minigame too, called Forge Your Fate.

isthereanydeal and Augmented Steam are good things to have in your pocket for this.

basically, among a few other features, they’re capable of telling you what the lowest a game has gone was and how low it is currently out of all of the sites currently offering it. It’s really useful to see if what you’re buying is a good deal in the moment or in the long run, definitely recommend it been using them for years.

So far, at least for me, it’s just another lukewarm sale. Most of the games that are on sale are about as low as they ever get, if less. I really miss when they would do flash sales and things like that.

Here started earlier, it seems. Bought Elite Dangerous for cheap, if anyone wants something to relax, that's a deal.

Right there with you...
I miss the old days and those great sales and of course the mini games that took you the entire sale to complete, not the lazy ones that you can click through in like 10 minutes for a mediocre badge.
I'm not saying it's bad or anything, but it's just a low effort now and doesn't have any magic like it used to...

Whelp I instantly spent like $90 but hey I cleared a ton of my wishlist. Can't argue with 75%+ off.

Ugh looks like I won't be able to indulge this time, I need to use the money to buy Skyward Sword and Ace Attorney. :(

Looks like Horizon is only $12 in my country right now though, so I may just get that at least.

Honestly wondering; why would anyone buy that game more than once, on PC where fan-made patches can be freely used to make it actually playable? I can't even imagine trying to play that Bugthesda game on console...

I have the original Skyrim on Steam. In my opinion, it's the most superior version. Mods are still being made for this version daily either on Steam Workshop or on Nexus. I believe it can still be bought on Steam. You just need a direct link to it's store page since the original doesn't show on Steam's search. Such as this one.

Weren't the special edition anyways free for the owners of regular Skyrim at the publishing date (or was it for folks who also had the DLC's)? Never paid a penny for it and there it sits in my collection beneath Skyrim.

Will probably get Dragon Ages now, have them all on X360, but Inquisitor is missing DLC's on it.

There are some games that look very tempting, but all I have to do is remember that whatever I buy is probably going to be given away for free before I get around to playing it, or at least included in a bundle.

The only way I can justify spending money on Steam anymore is when they have an extra "save $5 off $30" or something.

Must try to avoid buying more digital games I'll never play... or at least limit my spend to a fiver or so ;)

...plus GOG's just given me the Shadowrun Trilogy for free, rounding off their summer sale giveaway.
