What about the r4s dongle? Anyone have experience with these?how many different payloads can you store on these? Can you quad boot? Like cfw, linux, etc? Can you use cheats with these things? Can I play backups of my games? I have a ton of games I own and do not want to have a pocket full of cartridges.
That dongle is only an injector to fuseè exploit you only can inject one at time if you whant several payloads easy , can use something like hekate to chainload

The r4s dongle is also for fusée gelée units.
As I understand there is a payload what can be burnt on the R4 what load payloads from the SD; I personally use a RCMLoader which can be used on a computer as an USB drive and put up to 6 diferents payloads and then select the one you load on switch as easy as press a button. Even mine cost 6 USD and comes with a jig on it, its a blast!

My way is a bit overkill, but more convenient. Trinket M0 in both switches. Works like a charm.

I'm on FW 10.2.0 and AMS M.18.0
Want to update AMS and then the FW to 11.0.0
Is there anything I have to take care of? Does newest AMS have any issues on firmwares below 12.x?

Why should that be the case? Atmosphère supports all actually released firmwares without any issues.
They changed something for homebrews because of FW 12.x so I wondered if I need to get all my homebrews updated (compiled with newest libnx) even if my FW stays below 12.x if I use newest AMS.

  • Always use title redirection to run homebrew loader (not applet mode)
  • Use daybreak to update firmware
  • Update all your homebrew VERY IMPORTANT
  • And if you use it, upgrade all sigpatches
Some hombrew have problems with new atmosphère becase they need to be recompiled on the latest DevKitPro. Almost every hombrew I use has been updated. So no problem must arrise IF YOU READ THE DOCUMENTATION and follow all instructions

Ahh, I hadn't planned on making a thread about this.

Anyway, yes, my focus will be shifting towards spending all my time working on Atmosphere until it's usable (with a diversion to get a publically usable jamais vu PoC once some of the basic building blocks are in place).

I've put up a roadmap in the issues/projects section -- all of my development will be open source and done via commits to that repo. I don't want a repeat of previous consoles where CFWs get worked on behind closed doors before their initial releases -- all of atmosphere's broken, WIP code will be available as it's written.

Looking forward to working on atmosphere :)

Not really. If he's already banned (or doesn't care) there's no reason to waste space and use the slower SD card (compared to the internal eMMC) for playing games.
The ban is irrelevant here. The emuMMC isn't only for the ban prevention, it's also thought as a sort of brick protection. So...it is advisable to use it. And those who can't afford 32gb for an emuMMC, should not use cfw/homebrew in general. Or should buy a bigger sd either way. So where's the problem?

I never go online, have backed up my Switch during its first start and have the backed up 3.0.1 image of my Switch. Why should I use emunand?

Same thing here, if the only thing you do is play some games (like me), then their shouldn't be any risk. But offcourse there is always a small change that stuff gets corrupted. But we got NAND backups for that. Do not forget to restore the NAND backup each time before you upgrade your firmware and make a new NAND backup straight after that.

Anyway like I said I might just try emuNAND when Atmosphere is updated and I have to reinstall everything.

I don’t go online to update so I don’t have any reason to restore before update. I only have the backup (in three different locations) in case of a brick. It’s only 700MB big because it was made on a virgin system.
