Is any of these methods future proof or at some point you will be forced to upgrade your firmware to play new games?
Look, the thing is: Most firmware updates don't do much under the hood. They are fixing a bug here and there.
If you're on FW 11.0.0 and want to run a game that requires FW 11.0.1, you will aboslutely be able to do so by patching the required FW as written above since nothing really has changed from 11.0.0 to 11.0.1.
However you obviously can't run Smash Bros. with the latest game update on a Switch with FW 3.0.0 because a few big changes were made since then, for example the video recording feature which Smash uses (holding the screenshot button down for a few seconds).
So as, at some point when a FW introduces any new big features or changes and a game comes out that makes use of those changes, you won't be able to just patch it down.

To have a single XCi stored in external USB drive is the main reason I have a homebrew NS.

If we ever get another XCi loader, things will be perfect.
If we don't , still a single XCi is the convenient way to go besides all that Atmos limitations.

I hope the development of this tool will continue.

I was using NSC-Builder a lot, until I found about SAK.. A great app based on multi-tools...And that’s how “super-Xcis “ or “super/nsps “ are named...
SAK uses NSC Builder under the hood.
However, last time I used SAK, it didn't have all features of NSC Builder implemented in the GUI. Might gonna try it again.

Can't run Mario Golf and THPS 1+2 either. I'm on 10.2.0, have everything patched down and installed it through DBI.

Edit: Turns out 10.2.0 was the problem. Updated to 11.0.0 and both games work fine now. Interesting.

As I always say: There's no need and sense to stay at lower FW, you only can gain compatibility loss.
So lowest FW should be 11.0.0 for the SXOS users (still works perfect with every software), everyone else should be on 12.0.3.

Well, except that some homebrews are broken sometimes on latest firmware

I know, and credit is given to NSC_Builder, as for me, what offers SAK is a handy and simple gui, with a lot of features I need, Don’t need more for the moment, works flawlessly with zero issues for me.Didn’t check the speed though, compared with NSCBUILDER

Ok for the longest time ive been on v1.0.0.0 switch fw and playing all 11.0.1 games in xci format by using a program called sak (Swiss army knife) I put the 11.0.1 prod.keys inn the folder and able to play everything on sxos 3.1.0. But now I tried Tony hawk 1+2 with update which requires v12.0.2 and I grabbed it already patched and it will show my icon start to load the I get a system error.I tried to patch it myself and I have the newest 12xx prod.keys and same thing happens.I'm just wondering why someone can't create a program that can make the games on ANY FIRMWARE VERSION of switch. I DON'T WANT TO UPDATE PAST 1.0.0.0 because of all the glitches or don't want to bother with emunand or wait for sxos to come out with an update. I mean they were able to come out with a game dlc downgrader so if you wanna go back from 1.0.4 to 1.0.1 of the game they have a homebrew app called DBI.nro I just wish they would do this for the games.this sux.I DONT wanna have to update sxox or use another CFW.Everything on this version works GREAT and I wanna keep it that way.is there ANY software that will allow you to downgrade the games more then just 1 version like from 11xx to 10xx.I would love to make a 12xx game work on 9xx which was one of my favorite fws and I didn't blow the fuses.I manually updated every version.

I'm tired of this and I know sxos isn't gonna update to 12.0.3 so I guess I'm screwed because I love my sxos xcis!!!! Not installing to the switch.I'm pissed.to bad someone can't make a software like sak that can't DOWNGRADE ANY GAME TO ANY VERSION!!
