Hello, I am new to switch repair but want to get good at it. I have a device now that tells me amps and volts when plugged in. Unfortunately I cannot use it with the OEM switch charger, but in both directions it gives me 0amps 5v. I’ve tested for some shorts but haven’t found any. I just recently found out I can test individual pins when in diode mode by touching ground and the pins but I don’t know what the read outs should be for BQ24. I looked up the data sheet on TI website but I don’t really understand it. Anybody know any good videos for it or have any tips on searching for faults on the motherboard?

Here a good source to start.

This is usually related to but not always 100%:

USB C Charge port
M92T36
P13USB
BQ24193

If you get a board that has previous work always check ic orientations. I have fixed quite a few failed repairs by simply putting ic the correct way.

Is there any way to rule anything out?
