I'm new to homebrew and all the other related stuff. I just plan to play games on my Wii via USB Loader GX. For this I would be downloading the bare minimum stuff.

What I want to ask is that do I need to update stuff like Priiloader and USB Loader GX regularly?

Currently I just plan to homebrew it using letterbomb, then download homebrew channel, bootmii, priiloader, d2x cIOS,and finally USB Loader GX.
I don’t want to use any other application on Wii like riiconnect24, wiimfi, other homebrew apps.

Now, if the current versions of priiloader and usb loader gx are stable and enough for my need of just playing games from USB, then I dont plan to update anytime in future.

And if it is needed to update, then please tell me how to do it? I would not like to connect my Wii to internet for auto update or else. How to manually update them ?

Generally you don't need to update often unless things aren't working properly or you want to take advantage of new features.

To update, you would repeat the process you used to install the first time. Or just use ModMii

You said that I have to repeat the process just like installing first time, does that mean it will overwrite ?

Also what is ModMii, never heard of it.

Yes, it will overwrite.

Modmii is a program that runs in Windows. It will ask you some basic questions and the end result it delivers a custom guide for you to follow as well as all the required files to implement said guide. It also has a feature that analyzes your unique syscheck log, and will recommend updates based just on your syscheck - so in other words it will only direct you to update things if they are outdated.

I was wondering if there is any way to bypass the CIOSPAGHETTI error in the Priiloader installer? I have DARKCORP installed on my Wii, but I'd like to update to Priiloader 0.9.1.

Install a clean, unpatched IOS58, and make sure your hbc is installed to use IOS58, and that should meet the minimum requirements to get it running

@alexander1970 : do you still have that usb drive that gave issues in priiloader making it slow? do you happen to have bootmii @ boot2? if so, i have something i want you to test (been reworking the sd/usb access in priiloader)

Yes,the 1 TB WD HDD.

check if the slowdown is still there, and verify if everything works correctly.

also, feel free to test the new setting as well, which allows you to tell priiloader what device to primarily use (auto or sd is the old behavior , usb sets usb drive as primary device)

Your Release (10) works great.
Unfortunately still Delays with my WD HDD on Powering Up / Re-Booting the Wii.
FAT Device is set to USB but also tested with AUTO (I do not have/use actual an SD Card).

If I power down the Wii per Homebrew Channel or in the Wii System Menu,Priiloader appears after 2 - 4 Seconds.
If I power down the Wii per Hand,Priioader needs up to 12 Seconds.

thanks for testing. feel free to go back to 0.9.1 if the slowdown bothers you. or stay on the test version and play around with some of the upcoming new features

either case, i assume on the old versions it also had that slow down before it showed the menu and when shutting down?
at least in menu its all fixed now, so moving the device polling to a thread did something. i still wonder why that drive is taking so freaking long before it responds...

ill have to do more investigations i guess, cause moving to a new thread alone wasn't good enough <<

I can test 3,4 other HDDs but they are all SSDs.Is this also useful for you ?

nah, its ok. this whole thing is to tackle the slowdown. if that one drive isn't fixed i haven't really done that much to that issue ( however, 2 other issues are fixed )

i'd assume the ssd's will have no issues btw, as i assume the ssd's don't have a slow arse controller or wait for a drive to be spun up

This page recommends turning on the following three hacks, but I’m confused whether I should enable them or not.

Region Free Everything- I don't intend to play games of other regions.
Block Online Updates- My Wii is already updated to 4.3 and there are no other updates.
Block Disc Updates- Again, I already have 4.3 which is the latest.

I have stated some reasons (that I believe are correct) as to why I think I won’t need them.

Or maybe I should just enable them to be on the safer side if any new online update is released ?

Depending on what you have installed, you can still receive updates even if you're on 4.3. For example, if your cios 222, 223, 249, 250, 254 has a version number less than 65280 than you will be prompted to do an update. Some guides will have u install custom ios's to these slots that have a maxxed out version number (65535), and others may not. There is no harm in enabling the block updates system menu hack even if it is not necessary in your case.

You don't need to enable region free everything, you can always enable it later if u change your mind
