Pokémon Divine Sword & Blessed Shield - v1.1

I can't believe I am finally writing this, but Phives and I are proud to finally present Pokémon Divine Sword & Blessed Shield, a difficulty romhack. Why release another romhack when Sacred Sword & King's Shield is out, you may ask? Well to be quite honest, that project was rushed and is not something we are particularly proud of. So, we have been working on an entirely new one ever since the release of the Crown Tundra. Now, over half a year later and a LOT of hours sunk into playtesting, we are finally ready to release the first version!

Intro - What is Pokémon Divine Sword & Blessed Shield?
Pokémon Divine Sword & Blessed Shield is a difficulty romhack, taking inspiration mostly from Drayano's work. However, I also played Radical Red last year and took some inspiration from that, although outside of QoL features those are purely optional. So don't worry if you want to play in Switch mode and use healing items in battle! We've made edits to nearly every Pokemon, mainly focusing on making egg and tutor moves available through normal level up movesets as well as providing buffs and new moves to tons of different Pokémon. Of course, there is documentation for everything included in the google drive folder with the download. We've of course redone the team of every single trainer in the game, and hope to encourage team building in order to over come these challenges. However, it is important to remember that all of this is done within the confines of Sword & Shield. We cannot make the AI super smart, nor can we force certain aspects like a level cap, etc. However, we have gone to great lengths in order to make it the best we possible could.

Notable Features:
  • Completely reworked Raid rewards system
  • All 600 Pokémon from Sword & Shield (including DLC) catchable outside of the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra
  • Overhauled boss battles
  • Quality of life features such as purchasable EV reducers
  • Shop overhauls in order to make competitive items easily accessible
  • Healing items disabled during trainer battles (THIS IS OPTIONAL)
  • Battle Items removed from the game (not optional, as X items are the new purchasable EV reducing items)
  • Edited Adventure Guide for in game documentation
  • Edited Pokémon & various buffs/moveset edits.

Credits & Thanks
  • The amazing creators of pkNX, this project would not be possible without their hard work
  • Drayano, for allowing us to reference some of their changes from Renegade Platinum.
  • The creator of Radical Red, soupercell, for allowing us to use certain Pokémon edits from their romhack in ours
  • https://twitter.com/__Toner___ for the logos

Pokejobs being broken is an intentional feature in order to prevent an EXP/EV exploit.
The only part of the Post Game that is currently finished is the Hop & Sordward/Shielbert section. Champions Cup rematches and such are not edited yet.

Really cool! Wish I could try it (no hacked switch lol). I never really got into hardcore pokemon rom hacks because I kinda like the casual experience I get from them but SS felt way too casual. Especially with the XP candies. They were good for leveling up to good amounts, but after a few raid battles and litterarly hundreds of XL candies, things got out of hand

Will most definitely try it the first chance I get!

I didn't play sword and shield, since I heard several complaints. Mainly due to the difficulty, would it be a bad idea to do my first run with this mod? Probably..

I have been hoping for a modded version of SwSh that increased difficulty! Are there any changes to the DLC trainers/Pokemon Spawns, or is it only the main game that's been edited? Or will there be any plans to edit them in the future? I didn't see any mention of the DLC areas being edited but I may have missed that mention!

Thanks for creating this OP and Phives!

yeah but they (sw/sh) were too easy you could probably beat it in 3-4 hours not including dlc or post game this will make for a hearty challenge and more replayable only bw2 had difficulty modes too bad that fell flat i would've love future gens to have that, (preferable at the beginning not as unlocks)

This is nice but I don't have a good computer to play this... and to be honest I have Sword and Shield; compared to Sun & Moon I see no reason whatsoever to play them.

Is not as bad as X and Y compared to Black and White but... the fact you have to throw so much money for stuff that used to be free or already included, like online trading... Yeah fudge Pokemon on the Switch.

Can't say I care for Exp Candy removal. Should've just added it to the battle tower for like 1 BP, because at that point you're already done the game.

Not exactly a big fan of the Feather/Wing (whatever they're now called - they'll always be Wings to me) buff, considering raising a stat by 1 or 2 points is occasionally very handy, and I personally wouldn't give Gym Leaders or regular Trainers access to Legendaries or Mythicals (like, say, Diancie), but that's just me.

Oh, did you fix Aegislash? Undo that idiotic Base Stat nerf he received? The only Pokemon to ever get such an inane thing - the 3DS games, conversely, buffed quite a lot of Pokemon, instead of weakening them, and King's Shield was already nerfed too.

What "exploit"?

What "exploit"?

I mean... in the context of this romhack you're never going to need a 1 or 2 point difference in EVs. And its not like any Pokemon you get within the confines here can be transferred to an actual SwSh game to be used competitively. As for the odd mythic here and there, there's only about 3 of them within the game that we used I believe? And none of them are really that powerful when compared to many of the psuedo legendaries already available throughout the game.

And lol thinking Aegislash didn't deserve the nerf. These are some quite interesting takes you've got here all around.

The exploit was abusing day skipping in order to gain a flat amount of exp that doesn't follow the curve, as well as many EVs really quickly.

Does PKNX have the capacity for type chart editing yet, a la PK3DS? Because I'd say Ice needs more resistances - Normal, perhaps, and definitely Water and Grass. Not to mention giving Steel back its Dark and Ghost resistances; always have been bitter about that nerf...
As for Aegislash, as I said, King's Shield was already nerfed and never did protect the blade from Will-O-Wisp, could be pretty predictable, and lowering Base Stats is a horrendous new addition to the series - not to mention this isn't competitive, but singleplayer, so competitive mindsets aren't exactly relevant.

Oh, and if it's possible to edit moves, how about bringing Surf, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Flamethrower back to 95 Base Power? Hydro Pump, Thunder, Fire Blast, Hurricane, etc. back to 120? Overheat, Leaf Storm, Draco Meteor back to 140?
Like they originally were on the DS and earlier? That always bugged the heck outta me, these slight but needless nerfs.

And healing items - Fresh Water 50 HP. Soda Pop 60, Lemonade 80, Hyper Potion 200, a la Gen VI and earlier; one thing I dislike about Alola is how it nerfed these, and made a lot of things more expensive to boot.
Though in my own personal PKMN projects, I like to change the values of these and more - Potion 30, Super Potion 60, Hyper Potion 200, Fresh Water 50, Soda Pop 70, Lemonade 90, Moomoo Milk 120 HP

Awesome stuff! I can't wait to dive into this! I see the DLC areas are unedited. Will you be working on those eventually too?
Also, I perfectly support mythics and legends being used by final bosses. Drayano's hacks did them and it makes these mods more unique than the base game.

You can get Rare Candies for 0 BP in the Battle Tower.
At that point they might as well just put Exp Candies there since Rare Candy is free and people can use as many as they want. The removal/modification is really just trying to solve a problem nobody was having. They can just choose not to use them in the first place.

To be fair, the battle tower is post-game.

There is something I noticed looking at the wild encounters though. Dreepy isn't anywhere in the encounter table so I'm guessing it can only be found in max raid dens like in the base game (which eventually become unavailable since they're only found in 1 and 2 star dens in the main game which are gone by the 6th badge). Gothita and Solosis, two other Pokemon that only appear in dens that eventually stop appearing in the main game are also still only in fog, which are locked until the post-game. Since the baby Pokemon like Pichu and Wynaut are available in early areas like the Slumbering Weald I think it'd be good idea to put Dreepy, Gothita, and Solosis somewhere too since it's a pain to have to breed for them.
Morelull too even though Shiinotic is in Glimwood.
Feebas still has that silly 1% even though other 1%s like Duraladon and Dhelmise were made higher.

Hey, just wanted to say that I'm loving the romhack so far! I needed an excuse to replay through SwSh while I wait for the remakes to drop. I do have a question though, is it possible to catch pokémon with their hidden abilities in the wild? I've caught 5 Aron in Galar Mine so far and all of them have Sturdy. I want to know if it's possible before I waste my life and sanity trying to catch one.
