I have created a few days ago an unofficial version of 4.84.2 REX with Cobra 8.3 and failsafe, but my testers are not available, I would need people with flasher
what is the difference of this change we made to yours?

Mine has failsafe mode, if something goes wrong with stage2, this will prevent brick on NAND and semibrick on NOR
there's this detail I didn't know

Edit;
@Evilnat
Thank you so much for the job well done.
with these changes that we made here, how can you make it for me to keep it here?

I have created version 4.84.3 REBUG REX with everything we have done here, I will send it to the testers with flasher to give their approval. It should not fail at anything, I have verified it several times, but I prefer to wait first for a green light after trying it
Rebug Toolbox has a function called Load Lv2 kernel can I load your kernel that you have in Github Source @Evilnat?
You can load it, but it will not be permanent, after the PS3 reboots it will load its original kernel without failsafe. Loading an external kernel is very useful to see if it is working as expected without brick risk

You are welcome ;)

Btw, I'm making some changes in source code of Cobra 8.3, I will upload it in a few minutes in my repo
Nice that the ps3 scene is still active thanks to you. :)

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I noticed that there is an improved Rebug Rex 4.84.2 Cobra 8.2 with failsafe in the Ultimate Toolbox from Devil303 but PSP is not working.

Hello my friends, I have a very strange Cobra 8.3 bug that I did not have with Cobra 8.2 yet. Namely, Cobra 8.3 deactivates randomly. I can then no longer properly boot the ps3. Only when I completely remove power and turn it back on and then webman says noncobra. I had the same bug on the day where @Evilnat had published his 4.88, then I went back to Rebug Rex. Now I have the same bug with Rebug Rex. I also looked in dev flash and there it says at stage2.cex.bak or stage2.dex.bak did anyone have the same problem?
And if I change it then without .buk then the same happens again only if I replace Cobra 8.3 with 8.2 and then replace it again with Cobra 8.3 then it works properly again.

in case you don't know, the .bak means that cobra is disabled. rebug does something similar when you turn off cobra. not sure why it happened randomly. I haven't encountered any bugs on 4.88, but I also haven't played my ps3 much. I don't usually play it anymore nor did I ever really. I was always more interested in the hacks and mods than the games. ;) anyway, I haven't encountered that particular bug. did you activate it with the activator built into cobra? or was this an official act.dat?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

btw, @Evilnat closed the issue on github, since it's been fixed. I got that email on my phone, but not on the pc for some reason. weird. anyway, he'll probably see this thread later today. he was very committed yesterday. :)

dunno, but I'm sure Evilnat will check it out just to make sure. I've been in the ps3 scene for a very long time, so I've read of lots of weird stuff going on with systems that no one seems to be able to explain. like my old ps3 would not reload webman mod after launching a ps2 game (once it came back to the xmb). I'd have to reset the system. it didn't matter which firmware I was on either. a friend of mine had a similar issue where formatting the hdd fixed the issue. I never tried that. I have a new ps3 now after the original got banned, so I test ps2 games and webman mod whenever I change firmwares. that's one thing I tested on Evilnat 4.88. I had no problems, so I have no idea what was going on with my original ps3. no one was able to figure it out either.

Very interesting, by the way, I've been very active in the ps3 scene for 2 years, I'm really amazed how it all developed. Aldostools, Devil 303, Joonie, Evilnat, etc. all great developers!

It's weird ... it's the first time I've heard that Cobra disables by itself, can you tell me when it disables and what were you using at the time?
About 1 p.m. I switched to Dex for a short time because, I wanted to go online for a short time, I switched my idps with webman from 82 to 85 then had to restart webman and then it happened. Without spoofing.
