He was actively funding the Republican party with tens of thousands of dollars, of which the Republican party hates the LGBTQ+ community, which is what most of Scott's fanbase is. That's a direct attack on his fanbase. They're completely in the right to cancel his ass.

Sorta-but-not-really. Scott considered retirement for quite a while, even having multiple "final" FNAF games before then - he also contemplated in the letter on how he's "turning 40 and is missing out on a lot of things". It's just that the whole drama acted as a good excuse to do just that; I think Scott retiring from the industry was a matter of time regardless of politics.
