So I wanted to homebrew my Wii U's vWii so I could use things like CTGP for Mario Kart Wii and other games, and after injecting Wuphax into my vWii, I went ahead and opened Mii Channel on the vWii system. Turns out I did something wrong, because apparently there's a missing boot.elf file that I can't find. I'm sort of new to homebrewing; I've only homebrewed a 3DS before and it was nearly two years ago. If this isn't the right place to ask this question, please redirect me so I can ask the question in the proper place.

Thanks!

I had the same problem you do. I was able to install the HBC on vWii with this tutorial.
https://wiiu.hacks.guide/#/vwii-modding.

Instructions

  1. Insert your Wii U’s SD Card into your PC.
  2. Copy the apps folder from the Patched_IOS80_Installer_for_vWii.zip file to the root of your SD Card.
  3. Copy the contents of the d2x_cIOS_Installer.zip file to the root of your SD Card.
  4. Copy the contents of the downloaded Tiramisu .zip file to the root of your SD Card.
  5. Copy the compat_installer.elf file to the wiiu/apps folder on the root of your SD Card.
  6. Take the SD Card out of your computer and plug it into your Wii U console.

Now is time for you to make a nand backup.

Installing the Homebrew Channel

  1. Boot into Tiramisu.
  2. Launch the Homebrew Launcher, by opening the Mii Maker.==> Since my wii u is already hacked I just launched the HBC like i normally do from it's own tile in the WiiU Menu.
  3. Launch the compat_installer.
  4. Press A to install the Homebrew Channel and wait until you see Install succeeded. Then press the HOME button to return to the Wii U Menu.
  5. Launch vWii (the Wii Menu icon).
    • If the installation has succeeded, you should see the Homebrew Channel in your Wii Menu.
