Are all features available in free programming mode from the get-go or do you have to unlock stuff by completing the tutorials?
I haven't played it yet, just tested if the game worked. the game is small too - 1GB or so. I just downloaded it to my second switch. save isn't too large at about 60MBs. I'd imagine some games could be large, but I don't know how large. is that counted towards that 60MBs or are they separate?
Answering my own question, you can't use free programming mode until you've done the intro and completed the tutorial to build the first game, which takes a while.
If you're experienced with programming and with visual programming, here's a save with the above done so free programming is available (If you're not, I'd suggest doing the tutorial).
I backed up the save with DBI's MTP mode, it's the loose files from inside the save, DBI shows them under the game name then your user name.
Yes, but there's no online world in-game to find them from, you'll have to go find codes yourself on other websites - like this one maybe.
Hmm idk maybe I'll pass Mario Maker 2 is kinda the best game out right now dealing with this type of stuff. If I see improvements and if the game is $20 I'll pick it up it's kinda a let down they didn't make it like MM2

are there download problems with it like the eshop has been experiencing lately? I finally got game builder garage to download on my Mario switch. it was a fluke though, because the two demos I tried would not download.
no, there was no download problems for me. In fact I was already able to play it a few minutes before it's release date

@K3Nv2 I did that using Citra for 3DS games. Bottom screen was my smartphone. Until I got the touch screen. -
