So they spend half the damn thing shilling for Marvel, apparently oblivious to how badly the Avengers game fell on its arse. The pixel perfect collection is Steam and Mobile only. Origin looks like a low effort Devil May Cry and outdated before it's even released (Lost Soul Aside looks WAY better). And the rest is just ports and remasters. Well whoop-de-smegging-doo.

Praying that Nintendo can salvage something from this absolute toilet inferno of an E3.

I think they're aware of how badly it's doing, as it's been on sale for $20 a number of times already. I'd bet they're under contract to produce a certain amount of post-launch content for it though, regardless of sales and/or reception.

Is the game really that bad? I did buy it for $25 on sale but when I played it for the first few minutes it seemed okay but I didn't do much

From what I've seen/read it's just super repetitive and grindy with poor level design. Crystal Dynamics isn't exactly known for their beat 'em up games either...Square killed Deus Ex to bring us these Marvel-licensed games. The best thing that you can say about Avengers is that it isn't Balan Wonderworld, but it's a similarly pointless departure from the genres that they're comfortable with/best at.

Okay understood the only game I played related was Injustice gods among us and it was a decent fighting game I didn't really like the second one too much but I haven't beat it yet. As far as marvel I never played a marvel games like that ever.

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster...so they're not gonna use the DS versions of 3 and 4? That's a shame.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

And no Bravely Third either...worthless conference.

Well, that wasn't very good. Still interested in what FF Pixel Remaster actually is, but pretty disappointing about no console release. Babylon's Fall could turn out okay. I felt somewhat hopeful about FF Origin before actually seeing it, but may still give it a shot someday. Legend of Mana was probably the most positive thing I got out of this even though we already knew about it.

legend of mana comes out on the switch in a few days. I was thinking about buying it, but I dunno with all the problems downloading games. I managed to get downloading to work with game builder garage by resetting my cache. I don't know if that was a fluke or not, so tomorrow, I plan on trying to download a demo. I have two demos in my download history, so maybe one of those. I want alex kidd on like the 22nd, but I won't be buying it if I can't download anything. I've already cancelled my preorder of mario golf due to this. I still have monster hunter stories 2 and skyward sword preordered. I hope it's fixed by skyward sword's release. as for monster hunter stories 2, I think there's dlc for preordering the game, so I kept it intact. I've already had this problem with my account and playstation, and now nintendo is screwing things up.

FF Origin protagonist looks so out of place with everything else, especially fighting Garland.

my thought about that game at first was “is this some new Dissida thing. Then “what the hell is this? Some kind of crossover” then when it says it’s a new Final Fantasy my thought was “no… no it isn’t”.

they have completely forgotten how to make Final Fantasy games.

I mean I’m all for a reimagined Final Fantasy 1.

but this is not how you do it. If they wanna make a game like this they can and thats alright. Could be a good game, but it’s not a Final Fantasy game, don’t slap Final Fantasy on everything just to sell. It hurts the franchise…

to make a Reimagined Final Fantasy 1 you should take a look at what made the first game.
First a customizable team in the beginning of the game. Use the classic jobs.

Perhaps add a character creation tool to make your characters look the way you want (to expand on the original idea)

recreate the world to match the atmosphere and feel of the original as close as possible.

use musical arrangements of the original tunes.

The original was all about world exploration, so the reimagined game should take this and improve upon it.

don’t stray to far from the original battle mechanics. Perhaps borrow ideas from other successful Final Fantasy titles and add a new spin to it. Closest candidate to borrow from is perhaps the battle system of Final Fantasy X (which was also turn based and relied heavily on strategy)

Make the story richer while keeping it faithful. Final Fantasy VII Remake mostly dealt with this well.

I think most people don’t think of Final Fantasy 1 as a dark hack ‘n slash/action rpg type of game.

it’s like making a metroidvania style remake of doom.. if I wanna play metroidvania games there’s plenty of great ones, I don’t need Doom to be one as well, I’m happy to know that Doom remains a great first person shooter.

and I would like Final Fantasy to remain a high quality jRPG. If I wanna play action rpgs or hack and slash then there is plenty of other games in those categories to choose from.

I am a bit against the Final Fantasy VII Remake as well as I feel that it’s not really a remake if you change the entire genre of the game. But it’s at least a good game. So I cannot be too upset about it.

if I could have it my way, then the Final Fantasy franchise would still use the classic ATB model but enemies would appear in the world similar to Final Fantasy XIII and Dragon Quest XI.

Btw, Dragon Quest XI proves that classic jRPGs still can do well even outside of Japan.

I heard this is a problem with the latest Switch system update? I updated one game on Saturday and had to retry it maybe like five times before it would download.

yes, I managed to get game builder garage installed on all 3 of my switches. one was preloaded, so I had no problems with it, but the other two had issues. I reset the cache, and it worked on the Mario switch. however, after reinputting my password (deleted when resetting the cache), and trying to download the octopath traveler and yoshi's crafted world demos, it wouldn't let me. it kept failing instantly, so I deleted both. I've heard it's a problem with the update, but why would Nintendo pull the update, only to reissue it later with the same problem? it might be a problem with the eshop itself, but I have no idea.
