Rune Factory 5's western release has been delayed to early 2022

Switch_RuneFactory5_Hero.jpg

Last month, Rune Factory 5 released in Japan, as an exclusive for the Nintendo Switch. Localization studio XSEED had previously confirmed that they would be bringing the game west and officially translating it sometime before the end of 2021, however, that's no longer the case. Announced shortly before E3 kicks off is the delay of Rune Factory 5's localization, pushing the release into early 2022. The game is still planned to make an appearance at E3 2021 at the very least, and will be featured as part of XSEED's lineup during the Future Games Show on June 13th.

It is fine, I hope the game is great.
I am currently playing the Japan version of Rune Factory 5 (RF5) and can say that if you enjoy Rune Factory 4 or the previous titles, then RF5 would probably good for you too.

I know that the game sometimes got low framerates or lag, but for me, that issue does not stop me from enjoying the game. The farming system is more or less the same as Rune Factory 4 (RF4). The exploration, dungeons, and others have the same systems from RF4. If you like RF4 then you probably would love RF5.

I hope the western release will be more polished than the current release so more people can enjoy RF5.

Nintendo Switch Pro confirmed; they need the extra Hardware oomph for the Translations to run smoothly ...

Jokes aside, it would be nice timing for their Marketing if it did come out as part of the first Switch Pro Titles.

If it have the same amount of text as RF4 then delay is inevitable. People think it would have the same amount of text as other farm game is a greatly mistake. This game have same amount of text as a full JRPG game or even more so. Just dialogs alone would already be a handful, then we have flavor text for every items, character and monster too. Localization this is by no mean an easy task.

if it is to add the marriage of the same sex personal I approve even if they could have added that in update
if they do not put it with its shame to delay without this addition which should be basic
we are in the 21st century and people find it more normal to take resources for dlc in cosmetics / clothing and sequin frills rather than this addition

if they add it it will be the perfect game while waiting for the next dragon age, fable and mass effect and all the other wonders

Oooh but I was wrong, for freaking having common sense that there maybe a damn possibility of this happening- oh my freaking gosh, I am not surprised they did this tried telling those rude jerkwads that they don't know when they will release this game it could be delayed because there was no official release date like month and date but nooo I was the bad guy for freaking asking a dang simple question - fuuuuuukkkk
Lol I can't help but laugh cause I knew ...I
...aww man.....

But I am bummed out that we gotta wait next year and the release date isn't even mentioned or guessed at all so just have to wait until next year see if they announce it but still I really want someone to translate the game now but I maybe leeched at for asking this type of request.

Anyway thanks for reporting this.

It is fine, I hope the game is great.

The game is good, i had played the Japanese version even though i couldn't understand squat the gameplay is really fun, easy to get a hand of the issue with the game is that it has some lag to it, but from what I am seeing it's getting updates so I am glad they are fixing the bugs it got, however the main issue I got with the person who has played this game, to releasing gameplay of it online is the difficulty its too easy...like I don't know what was happening but...from what I saw in the gameplay and the youtuber questioning it himself; the game feels easy even when you change the difficulty it won't be the difficulty you set it to.

Like if you want it hard mode. It won't be in hard mode it will feel easy...but that's the experience the youtuber had while playing it in the dungeons he said himself that he is hoping a long the lines of him continuing with the game that it may get difficult and the boss act actually smart like they have done in recent game r4 but...he doesn't know himself if that would be true since, he's put a lot of hours on it..

I am really hoping they fix that issue - heck if someone were to actually take the time they need to translate this game, - i would still play it lmaoo xD I will just not over do it with the weapons hahah

To be fair, a lot of items are from RF4. So they can just reuse some translations from RF4. My guess for the delay is to improve the FPS or graphic issue. I believe the Japanese are less sensitive in regard to the FPS number (rarely see any complaint on FPS for RF5 by them, only Murakumo slacking off from his job (fixed in 1.0.3)), so they need to iron that too for western release.

Still have to play the first 4.
You do not need to. Each RF title is independent story-wise. You can start any game without missing out on the story.

So after thinking about what you commented down, I agreed until I started to realize that xseed the translation for this game is located in California, we all know how much of a dumpster it has become, plusss the people in it aren't uhh all that peachy so I really believe someone is going on with the translation team over there :/ I also want to add on that the developers of rune factory....there working on different games already and they will be releasing information on e3. ..

So I think that they are focusing more on that then the game itself being translated although I maybe wrong though on them working on different games but I do know that the game has been finished in the Japanese community, so I am pretty sure you can search up how long this game is...and I don't think its gonna be that long especially the text.

Marvelous should start translating their games simultaneously with development, not only marvelous, atlus and etc. We are in 2020s ffs, put those translators to work. Btw the game is looking good, hope they wont butcher the translation like they did with FoMT.

I was hoping they wouldn't do this, but I also expected it. Here it is. I'd like more information into this now, but I don't doubt that XSeed will post a blog about this in a few months or so that most people, apparently, completely ignore.

Anyway, Rune Factory 5 is treating me well at 200 something hours but I can tell you that, at the moment, it's buggy as crap. Crops sometimes just lock at 100% and are forever lost, you have to be careful when to use crystals and till corn into the field or those properties revert and the materials are wasted. The audio constantly glitches and repeats a random, sometimes incredibly-loud sound effect, over and over again. There's still no recipe for yarn balls. "Unity Beach" is also the most hilariously out-of-place asset in the whole game. Hopefully these iron out by the English release.

This game has an unreal amount of text by the way. So did RF4. I remember the XSeed blog talking about having to localize it for new languages as well, and getting the voice actors [Rip Edward Elric] back to record more lines for the new modes was no small feat either. I don't doubt that they were allowed to work on this localization during development, as is evidenced by other games like FoMT and PoOT that literally had the full English localizations in the files, but there seems to be a complete disregard for how much actual work text-heavy games like these are in the community.

Still, XSeed must be fairly understaffed considering many other localizations nowadays finish by release and they often do not. At least we can't accuse them of crunch.

Also, and this is important. I looked at the site you linked, and can't find any confirmation that the game was delayed. I don't doubt it, but could you clarify, because that link does not seem to be a source for this information.

You're right, and I might do that. Sometimes I play games in order even when it's not necessary, like the Final Fantasy games. You don't have to play them in order, but I did with the first 4 on the PSP, now I need to play 5 and 6.

Okay, so I looked into this.

The game hasn't been officially delayed again. Apparently, if you go to that website linked as a source, the image was supposed to say 2022 under Rune Factory 5. This was the only indication it was being delayed. At least at the moment it says 2021.

Just thought I should let people know that this is no longer correct.
