Hello
I own a 2ds XL that has been hacked, I dont really know how to specify it, it has Luma installed on it and a custom firmware. About 1 year ago it stopped working, when I turned it on both screen stayed black, no sound and only the blue light was on. I tried combinations of inserting or ejecting the sd card and game card and I tried to boot into recovery and configuration or safe mode but nothing.
Fast forward to this month, my friend who owns another hacked console took a look at it and messed around with trying to update the files on the sd card and replacing it with his own and things like that but he didnt achieve anything, and at that point I just gave up hope on it ever working. But today just out of boredom I tried holding down select while it booted again and this time the screens flashed, the top screen had a white line and the bottom screen had this text "Enable loading FIRMs and system modules. This isn't needed in most cases. Refer to wiki for instructions. Booted from CTRNAND via B9S." This flashes for half a second then turns off instantly. I have hacked my normal 3ds a few weeks ago and the guide I followed tells you to backup certain files. I used this guide (I assume an older version) to hack the 2ds xl and on my old computer I found two of those files that I suspect belong to the 2ds XL, a sysnand.bin and a sysnand.bin.sha but nothing else (with the 3ds I have 5 files backed up so I dont know if those two are even worth anything). Currently I dont have an adapter to check what files are on the SD card so for now Im only curious if someone who is known with 3ds hacking thinks this system is able to function again or not, and if it is what should I do.

I will also note that I dont remember if the 2ds xl crashed and stopped working while I was using it or just when I tried to boot it up one day, and before my friend tried messing with it the system started turning off on its own seconds after we turned it on.
Thank you for reading and sorry if this text is a bit messy.

That sounds like a hardware issue, it could be related to the screens but it could also be something much worse that would require a replacement of the entire motheboard. If you or your friend are able to open the system, try carefully reconnecting the ribbon cables for the screens and looking for any obvious damage on those cables.
the top screen had a white line and the bottom screen had this text "Enable loading FIRMs and system modules.
Could you give a better description of what that "white line" looked like?

It is a white rectangle that spans across the screen and it appears on the lower half of the screen, not touching the bottom though.

And another thing, two times now instead of that text popping up on the bottom screen it showed lines of text when I held start when booting. I wasnt able to make out any words because It goes away too fast, I will try to catch it on video like I did with the text I mentioned above.

I'm thinking that this could be hardware damage to the GPU, from my knowledge a white object like that should never appear in this case, the top screen should be showing more text of the Luma configuration screen.

I honestly think you may have a defective SD card atm, because the system seems to still function as is by asking you for the required firmware files/godmode9 files

Well if thats the case then I assume a motherboard replace would be needed, and at that point I think it would be easier to just buy a new console. Either way Im going to buy the screwdriver needed to look inside the 2dsxl and check on the ribbon cables, since as of now I cant do much with it. From what I saw they are very cheap anyways.
So thank you for helping me out here! And if I discover anything new I will be sure to post it.

If that it the case and I got a new sd card, what could I do? When I borrowed an adapter from my friend (about 1-2 weeks ago) my computer detected the sd card just fine and I could move and place files. But I dont know how to diagnose a defective sd card.

This guide tells you how to check for defective cards: https://3ds.hacks.guide/h2testw-(windows)
You can try getting a different card and putting the Luma boot files on it (https://github.com/LumaTeam/Luma3DS/releases), but I really doubt that such a weird issue would be caused by a faulty SD card. It already booted to the configuration menu from SD, the system is just not able to display it properly and then shuts off because of the faults, that's what I think at least.

Try going here and go through the part on ''Blackscreen on sysnand boot''

If in you case you had luma installed , then you would need the luma firmware files also on a fat32 formatted card

I will try these once I get a hold of an adapter, thanks for the suggestions. (I had to take the links out because it wouldnt let me post the reply)
