Retroarch doesnt even have to power to run dolphin lols.
Play on Horizon will never happen. On lakka with overclock games were running at 3fps. Don’t mean to dissappoint you, but your odds of winning first prize lottery are better that running play on horizon in any playable state(no pun intended).
This isnt a case of glass half full or think positive, its just being realistic.
Most gc games in lakka are halfspeed (which is a lot more that 3 fps). There are quite some titles that are playable at fullspeed with 1.7OC like Wind Waker, PoP The Sands of Time, Tomb Raider Legend, TMNT the Movie, Alien Hominid, Killer 7, Aggressive Inline, Burnout 1, Rally Championship... But ultimately - yes, switch is not powerful enough for dolphin let alone ps2, esp on HOS, its not happening.

PS2 will run fine on a Switch Pro. ^_^

Nah.. It will runs a little better than original Switch but it won't run fully speed at all. Even this emulator cannot run very well with 2013 computer version at all. Surely, some weak games can run just fine but not like Klonoa 2, Castlevania, God of War and etc.. No.

I could be mistaken, but I think they were referring to Play! when they quoted the 3fps figure

Many dolphin games run fullspeed. However by retroarch he is implying on HOS. On horizon dolphin doesn’t exist.
I also never said dolphin runs 3fps on the platforms that can actually run it ;), if you read my post properly it is clear I was refering to Play(the lakka core).

Yeah, my bad, i skipped a sentence by accident and thought you were referring to dolphin when saying about 3fps. Sometimes my brain can't handle english properly.

what about using Android emulator demonPs2 would it make any deference ?

It is probly the best bet to emulate ps2 atm.
To give a rough idea of performance, I saw a reddit video a while back of kingdom hearts 2 running 15-30fps performance mode. I havent done much testing though. The only game I would really be interested in is J&D The precursor orbs, which runs like hot garbage.
