Grand Theft Auto V lands on PS5 and Series X|S this November

header (1).jpg

Last summer, we were teased with the reveal that Rockstar would be bringing its best-selling Grand Theft Auto V to next-gen platforms. A few more details have been provided regarding this new and improved version of GTA V, most importantly, its release date. The "enhanced and expanded" Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 ports of GTA V will be available on November 11th. Rockstar promises that this release of the game, which originally came out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, will feature better performance, higher fidelity graphics, and more. Grand Theft Auto Online will also be included, with special bonuses for PS5 players.

I tried to play GTA1 (PS1) This game was kinda crap.
I tried to play GTA2 (PS1) Still awful.
I tried to play GTA3 (PS2) Better graphics, shit game.
I didn't try to play GTA4 (PS3). Don't care.
I didn't try to play GTA5.
so you skipped the best ps2 gta games?
Vice city?
San andreas?

going for the numbers only doesn't make them better gta games lol.
Also gta 3 was a great game fr its time so comparing it to latter games as open-world features its kinda unfair, since it was the foundation for rockstar 3d open-world games.

I do recomend picking up gta vice city and san andreas, you will have a blast playing those.

I was thinking about this yesterday. GTA IV was released in 2008, and V in 2013. Now it's 2021 and we still don't have a GTA VI, not even an expansion pack.
they said they aren't doing anymore expansion packs for gta games, im guessing its due to making huge amount of money with gta online so they don't need to do single-player expansions, just keep milking gta online and you got money to do whatever you want next.

Yes, I totally skipped almost everything on the PS2.

I had a PS1, and then life happened, and I never really owned anything after that (until PSP in 2008). Once I bought a PS2 plus network adapter plus HD to put in it, I didn't really give a fuck about it. Sue me.

PS2 is that machine for me that was mostly shitty, but had some games I wanted to try. So I played Mr. Mosquito (garbage). And Disaster Report (meh). And Raw Danger (worse than Disaster Report). And MGS2 (good!) and MGS3 (good!). And Chaindive (meh) And I can't think of what else I played on it because it was a while ago.

PS2 was kinda awful, but had some games on it that were worthwhile.

They could just release some GTA ports on the Switch if they want a lot of happy paying customers.
This would make more sense as it would allow handheld gamers to play the games.

GTAV remaster of remaster for nextgen seems unnecessary since these consoles can already play the last gen remaster. They could have just released a free performance patch to allow for higher resolution and framerate on the nextgen consoles and call it a day.

See for me, the PS2 is king, and the PS3 was the mostly shitty console. I didn't like the PS3/360 era at all. Got better with Xbone/PS4 though.

ps2 had alot of great games, probably the console with most number of highest rated games, since it had so many games lol.

if you had a psp you could atleast play gta vice city stores and liberty city stories, while not as good as vice city or san andreas, they are solid games and running on an handheld just makes them more impressive.

yeah i dont get it either, the game came out on ps3/xbox360 so it can run pretty well on switch, no need to do some serious downgrade, and it would actually give them a reason to re release the game since it would be portable, but nope lets remaster a remaster for the next gen again...

Yeah, nah, the GTA games don't do anything for me. Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition (PSP)? Hell yes. I bought it for my PSP, and I played the shit out of it. Midnight Club LA? Meh. I bought it, but I'll get back to it when I finish MC3DE again.

I was 25 when the PS2 came out. There was nothing there I wanted to play. I bought a PSP when I was about 35, and that was only to run the PicoDrive emulator. I can't even remember what I actually enjoyed about PS2. I played the hell out of my PSPs, and now I have a Vita. I'm willing to accept that GTA is worth playing, but I tried starting with the first one on PS1, and man, I did not enjoy that.

I currently own a PS3 because that was the only way to get some of my games onto my Vita (that's not actually a problem anymore). I have CFW on it, and now I have the option to play PS2 games that I missed at the time.

I started gaming on my dad's 1976-era Radio Shack Pong game. I had a 2600, [EDIT How did I forget this?]then a Commodore 128, then a Sega Master System, then a Sega Genesis, then a Nintendo Game Boy, then an Atari Lynx, then a Sega Saturn, then an Atari Jaguar, then a 3DO and NES and SNES and NeoGeoCD and a TurboDuo and a TurboExpress (and TV tuner!) and a Nintendo Virtual Boy (all at the same time), then a PS1, then nothing, then a PSP, then a Vita, then a PS3. I like video games a lot, but I'm not addicted to them.

I can play almost everything I want to play on my Vita. And that's a good thing, because I don't want to sit in front of a TV to play video games. With my Vita, I can play almost anything I want, whenever I want to play it.

PS2 is in that weird place where it just looks bad. It's not primitive like a NES or SMS, but bad like it's ready for HD in a SD world. Which it was, but it's just awful playing it now. I don't have any nostalgia for it, so it just looks awful instead of "OMG I remember playing this! I don't remember it looking this bad"

What I really want is something like the GPD Win 3 or AYA Neo, but there's no chance in hell I'm spending $600-$1000 on something like that.

Having only played a bit of Chinatown Wars and GTA III, i don't have much experience with the series. Even then, this re-release seems pretty pointless to me. You can already play GTA V on those consoles with all the bells and whistles of improved framerate and visuals. I was gonna ask who the hell would pay 60 bucks for a slightly improved re-release when they can pick up a last-gen copy for less and have access to the same content, but then i remembered that AAA sports game fans exist.

Lets not use the marketing term "remaster", they are just ports. I expect ports to take advantage of more powerful hardware and maybe clean up a few things, but they are still ports. I mean do people call pc versions "remasters"?
