Almost time for v1.1 just need to some final testing

Beta v1.09
- engine sound
- new flyby sound in stereo
- options for controlling the attract mode (fixed camera, random camera or cycle)

Beta Download: test build.

Should I attempt to put in a new difficulty mode? arcade?

What would arcade be?

I am thinking a new set of 10 normal tracks. Mixing in with a section from the hard track to spice it up. If you notice the hard tracks are not only longer but they have more aggressive corners which require more precision. Arcade mode would seek to balance out the challenge by having a better mix of sections.

Beta v1.093
- fixing some sound effects (engine, bouncing off walls, woosh)
- arcade difficulty (10 new experimental tracks). These tracks have a smoother flow than the others, let me know how they feel.
- sound effects are now stereo which means they should pan left or right depending on the side (bouncing off walls, woosh)
- messing with the background grid texture using a subway map. I want to keep it very subtle.

hey everyone hope you all are doing well.
I am still trying to get my website/leaderboards back online. Had to go through a whole lot of old php scripts and projects then update them for the new server, plus transfer the domain. anyway as for NewoZero I have been mostly tweeking the background city and ensuring that the game does not not stutter when the scene gets busy.


Beta 1.0951
* vehicle jitter when using camera 3? going up hills? FIXED!
* on some levels the framerate would drop to 50fps or so. FIXED
* wind fx are now blue instead of white
* the traffic is now visible from further down the track. probably too far?
* slowdowns on the title screen because of all the buildings - FIXED
* bump sound effect should be on the correct side left/right - FIXED?
* arcade difficulty
* changed the word "complete" to "finish" in most of the languages.
* other fixes I cannot remember

Anybody with a good set of stereo speakers/headphones willing to test this to see if they can hear the new stereo sound effects for the passing woosh and bumping into the walls?
Also did some work on the cam 1+2 dashcam view (pictured). The first number is the score and L1 is the level which is currently level 1.

I still find it weird that some people can beat all 10 levels on easy but struggle on level 1 of hard. while some people cannot pass level one on easy. when the physics and the speed are the same on all difficulties.

eitherway fixing some tiny bugs;
- gamecube right stick was NOT reaching max power FIXED
- FPS cam 1 too low or below track - FIXED
- wind trials are all blue
- rearranged the positions for level, progress and score values in cam 1 & 2 - cockpit view
- added some more buildings in the background city
- added rumble to gamecube controllers, extended rumble time (via EmeraldFox)
- changed the colours in easy mode to more pinkish/purple (from green)
- new debug options

the change list for v1.1 is going to be epic. I probably will have to filter out some of the unecessary mentions.

Beta Build v1.088

- fixes to controls (mr reaper)
- cockpit view for cam 1 and 2. new meter positions, accel meter, brighter UI (mr reaper)
- new introscreen for controls (mr reaper)
- new large font for the level start and loading screen
- bug fixes and a new debug option (frustum 2)


Beta 1.0882

- did some work on the controller button code so let me know if anything breaks.
- fixed a bug where the roling start does not happen at the start of the track
- speed meter now animates correctly
- fixed game win long text bug


Build v1.0884
- mostly graphical fixes and changes to the background buildings
- turn filtering is now off when motion controls are enabled
- the menu should be more responsive now with fewer missed clicks
- new frustum culling (should fix all slowdowns)
- other minor bug fixes that I probably forgot.

Beta v1.09

I was doing my usual weekend testing this morning and I thought to myself what if you were blind and wanted to play some wii brew?

Beta v1.0965
- alert sound when you are close to the walls of the track (sound should pan left or right dependings on the wall but I cant test it myself)
- sound when you end a level and the game.
- added a tall pink wireframe palm tree to some levels.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I had some free time today and finished up some little things that I was tinkering with.

Beta 1.0971
- sun is lower in the sky so that its easier to see when you are near the ground.
- the grid is now one colour which makes the horizon look so much more epic
- new sun graphics
- the buildings are all the same colour now, and there are more of them
- lots of little details that I cant remember mostly to do with the buildings.

Beta 1.0973
- camera movement is smoother especially up hills and over bumps. silky smooth. too smooth? not sure
- got rid of camera view 1, now there is only one cockpit cam view! @matt! let me know how it feels.
- camera 7 overwatch is now much lower so that its actually playable. still high in the sky but playable.
- you can now turn around and drive the wrong way down the track and the camera will adjust correctly.

Not much happening in the wii homebrew scene right now so I am gonna save this new build for release in december 2021 or there abouts as version 2 because it gives me more time to fix bugs and polish. So keep on testing and suggesting stuff. yeah current players are not playing the best version but I'm sure when v2 does release they will appreciate the changes even more.

Long time. Hope you all are doing well. This just an update on all the bugs I have fixed. As yall should know this will be released as version 2 in dec2021. In the mean time Wii Trouble has been just release on wiibrew if you are into tanks. Anyway changes and download link below;

Beta v1.12
- camera 3 is now the default camera view
- "expert cup" has been added with sharp corners for extra challenge
- fixed some texture glitches on the track
- I am thinking of replacing the music tracks with something with less copyright (dcept can probably help with this);
- "Field Of View" can now be adjusted in the debug menu. (55 to 95)
- I changed level 10 (spoilers) it is now a literal synthwave ocean.
- camera 7 has been lower making it possible to beat the game on any camera view. though so are definately harder than others.
- i probably changed some other stuff but forgot.

Testing Build Download: test build.

As usual let me know if you find any bugs or if there is anything I need to change before release in dec2021. You can comment here or tweet me @newogame . The game should always run at 60fps on real hardware. If you find a level that is "impossible" to beat let me know the difficulty and the level number so I can get it fixed.

One thing I fixed (which would seem minor to most players) is the wireframe colour under the special sections of the track. It does not affect gameplay or performance but it goes a long way in terms of adding polish. #newozero #wii #homebrew
