whoa thanks

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

So like, these you can't have displayed in the same display as the NES games though, right? Like the regular famicom games fit the same coverflow look, but these are such different dimensions you'd wand to have a separate emulator section set up, i think?
Exactly. These covers are only for the Famicom Disk System add-on.
Take a look at my theme Rhapsodii Shima and Plugins pack if you are interested into this:

Ah hmm. so my wiiflow looks pretty basic, would I have to basically get it all set up again under that to add the FDS add-on or whatever? Wondering if I'd rather just try to find regular templates of the famicom games (shrunken spine style) and just try to make customs for FDS games hmm.

Any idea where I could get templates? Like especially something with layers already in there or whatever. For any of the systems really, but the famicom or NES ones would be great.

But yeah that looks really coool.

It depends on what you want to achieve. With my packs you'll have access to all plugins, for each system that the wii can emulate.
But you're not forced to have all the systems you're not interested in: you can hide every console/computer that you don't need, and leave only what you want to show. It also adds a different background for each coverflow, depicting the actual system.
Everything is pre configured to have accurate reproductions of the real cover boxes, with the correct proportions and orientation.

However, if you're not interested in all of this, you can always keep the basic Wiiflow and make your custom covers with a standard format.

Unfortunately it was not that easy for me. All the covers you can see on this thread are the fruit of long, exhausting researches on the internet. You can always try your luck searching on google, but I was never able to find ready to use templates, so I always made mine.

Hey so, I found your other post on how to set up FDS on the standard theme, but realized my source_menu folder doesn't have FDS logos included. do you have those separately? mine basically looks like this, but only with emulators i have roms for so far, so i'm adding them as i go.

Every time I add a new emulator I kinda have to relearn how to add items to the menu, but yeah I don't think I have FDS logos, and maybe others, but my list looks pretty big otherwise.

In my theme you can find all the images, but they are a different "brand" (transparent background and no frame). You'll find fds.png in wiiflow/source_menu/Rhapsodii Shima. Copy it to your wiiflow/source_menu. Being transparent they can easily be edited to resemble the Carbonic theme you're using

I have limited bandwidth. What is the purpose of the shrunken spine cover sets in general? Which version would you recommend if I can only get one?

Thanks for re-upping the Nintendo sets.

Shrunken Spine sets are needed for wiiflow, or the spines will overlap the front and back. The spine width is hardcoded into wiiflow, so that's how we compensate.

Thank you for the answer, I will get them now. What are people using the normal spine covers for? Other loaders/emulators/console/PC?

Edit: Hey, you're the one who created the first covers thread. Thank you for doing that. I have one more question about that thread. There are some "master sets" which are a lot smaller than the normal sets, e.g. the Sega Master System Master Set is half the size (300MB) of the normal set (700MB). Is that because the normal set contains multiple regions (unlike the separate Megadrive sets)?

Normal spines are there just in case anyone else wants to use them in any other application.

The master sets are 1 cover/game. They are mostly US covers, but are subbed for others where the quality is better.

The regular set include all available region covers and alternates.

The Genesis/Megadrive set is unique in the fact that it's a little crazy with how many different region covers there are available, that's why they are all seperate (and the biggest pain to update.)

That clears everything up. Thank you, Sir.

Hey folks,

I've been working with Tetsuo on optimal PNG compression for WiiFlow, and once we got that sorted out, I decided to re-compress all the PNGs in the cover sets in his thread. While I was doing this, I also decided to mix in my personal cover collection. Here is how it breaks down…
  • PNGs all re-encoded for an average file size reduction of ~10%
  • All compression is lossless: zero image quality degradation
  • Folder structure & naming syntax homogenized
  • All file naming errors fixed (literally only one or two was found)
Links are no longer being updated on this post, as these optimized collections are now all available on the first post.

* About the Super Nintendo Set…
I was actually considering doing a large scale restoration project on these when I found out about Todd's project. So instead I limited my work to my favourite 100 or so titles, in very good, but not perfect quality (since I assume one day these will be trumped by Todd's pixel perfect work). Despite this, it still took me a huge amount of hours, and now I can completely understand why Todd is still not done. I have no doubt he has invested a perverse amount of time in gathering sources and comping out this beautiful new covers he has been teasing us with. Anyways, I'd like to share my own custom set with you, and have integrated them here. Now this set does have some artistic liberties, and if you are concerned about this, I would love it if you would review the differences and let me know your thoughts. I have created a specific subset of only the revised covers and the versions being replaced (and in some cases, retained as an alternative) for easy comparison.

I have also attached a boatload of the SNES highlights to this post.

p.s. I will be keeping this post up-to-date with any changes.

Hi AdamCatalyst and sorry for the late response. First of all, a big, HUGE, thanks for all your work!
I've been very busy with other projects lately, but with time I will replace the sets in the OP with your optimized covers.
For the time being, I can only recommend everyone to download the covers from your post instead of the OP.

No worries! Thank-you Tetsuo. Please, no pressure, no rush. You do so much for all of us. Take care of yourself first and foremost, and then take care of whatever projects you find the most rewarding.

Thank you Bro! Your covers look great as well.
The new covers are still coming along with about 900 done so far.

Thanks Todd! I just updated the SNES set, fixing the inevitable errors that were found. If you had the time to take a look at that subset, Covers - SNES - shrunk spine (13 New + 93 Revised) - 2021 06 01.zip, and noticed any sources, cropped images, titles graphics, or whatever that looked useful to you, I'd be happy to send any sources over!

900 so far? I can't even fathom. We're all looking forward to it.
