Really unfortunate that these appear to be quite hit or miss.

Yeah, I think the best approach currently is just to buy several of them and hope for the best. It would be nice if these showed up in more reputable channels that do some testing or at least have refund procedures that don't cost more than the device itself.

I ordered just the one unit and it works flawlessly. Annoying theres no sticker on the cart but I feel lucky I got a working unit given the gamble it is on them working or not.

I wonder, is the plastic case of the DSONE clones exactly the same size as the original? I have an original one that is busted but the board is intact. With how these clones are fairly but a gamble between working or not, I was wonder if I could just switch the plastic with the original one I have and add the sticker of the original myself.

I can't answer your question with any certainty, but I can say the shell construction on these clones is quite poor. It might be an ok replacement if it does fit the original board but mine has a bulge near the bottom of the cart and the contact-side of the plastic is perhaps bent outward a bit. I'm not impressed with the construction in the slightest. These are cheap in every way. It slots in and out fine, so I guess if that's what you care about most, though...

There were a few hardware revisions. These shells appear to be the same as some of the later ones which don't have a cutout for the PSRAM chip but instead have thinner plastic in that location. Tbh the plastic isn't any worse than the originals, they are both made of cheap plastic that melts at around 200C and smells like death. Also one of my legit DSONEs now has a hole melted in the case. I'd guess it's a cheap aluminum injection mold and ABS plastic.

If your legit one is thicker and has the PSRAM cutout you could easily modify it with a hobby knife. I'm thinking of getting a small print run of some stickers made to give them a less crappy look.

If you do get stickers, ill purchase one from you.

So I've got my DSONE clone today.
Ordered it on aliexpress, the free shipping option was fast, about two weeks...

The card boots if I use unlaunch to boot it on my DSi, the stock launcher doesn't work at all with the DSONE clone inside (black error screen, please reboot).

Also I've got this PSRAM error during the check:
psram error
No=00 0101 1313 No=01 0202 0000

I've tried the paper sheet + the battery shorting trick, sadly the error is still in place. :(
I guess there isn't a way to fix this?
Maybe I'm going for a reflow with hotair, but I guess this will mess up things badly.

Never used a supercard before, only R4 carts...
What kind of features won't work with a faulty PSRAM? All the realtime stuff?

Regards^^

It's basically going to be able to do the same things your R4 could do (plus support SDHC if you had one of the old R4 cards that didn't) by using RetroGameFan's Multi-Cart Update instead of SuperCard's EOS. Given your error, assuming it's the same as mine, EOS probably isn't going to work properly.
You should have no problem with booting basically any NDS ROM if you go this route, and you can also add cheats and other things to enhance your experience if you wish.

now if they only made DSTWO Clones even though it's a basic vampire with the extra battery consumption it had pretty decent gba emu for those on DS/Lite that don't want to hassle with a slot 2 cart as well (if you have a 3ds use openagb firm better than injecting titles and wasting the 300 slot limit as it uses the native gba emu on the 3ds itself

While this is true, that emulator will eventually be worthless as GBARunner2 continues to make big improvements going forward.

I would most likely be interested in a few stickers myself. most likely 6-8 of them, depending on how the next batch of cards go.
