Walmart and Target will no longer sell Pokemon cards in store due to "safety concerns"

chari.png

Target is banning the sale of certain brands of trading cards, and will no longer carry them at physical locations. This is apparently due to safety issues, with official banners being posted up in certain locations across the United States, claiming that the decision is to, "ensure the safety of our guests and team members". The new policy hasn't gone into effect just yet, but will be happening at all Target locations tomorrow, May 14th. Customers will still be able to buy the banned brands of cards, which include Pokemon, MLB, NFL, and NBA trading cards online at Target.com. While Target hasn't pointed out what safety issues in specific it has regarding the cards, there have been occasions of crime occurring and fights breaking out at Target stores over them. Just a few days ago, a man was assaulted by a group of other men, with the latter attempting to steal the cards from the individual. At least, until he pulled out a gun and scared the would-be thieves away, all whilst in the parking lot of a Target.

Another major American retail chain, Walmart, is also choosing to prohibit the sale of all trading cards, following these recent events. Some Walmart stores have similarly posted notices in newly cleaned-out sections, explaining that "inappropriate customer behavior " has lead to the decision to no longer sell cards.

While I have a strong dislike for the franchise, this knee-jerk reaction to a violent occasion was not really the best of ideas. What, are they gonna pull Hershey bars from shelves next because a bunch of kids fought over them in a fist fight in some no-name town in Oklahoma?!?

People are the problem, not the product. Improper conditioning and lack of self-control has led to all these violent attacks, because the newer generations believe they are self-entitled to anything. Being a part of this newer generation, I feel sorry for people who are about as old as I am. They don't have respect for individual rights.

EDIT: @Cylent1 has this signature; kind of ironic considering he commented on this article:
My kids' teacher told him that guns kill people, he told her that his pencil failed his last exam!

That's why usa is a place full of dumbfucks. Ban trading cards , but guns are allowed. Lol.

original article said:

Lets just gloss over the fact that firearms in the hands of sensible people can do any good.

Yeah but Corona makes shipping costs expensive and causes delay.

So buy your Japanese cards, if you are willing to wait for long.

Not if you order from amazon and are a prime member. you can get a japanese booster box of chilling reign for about less than $100us 2 day shipping . Drawback to japanese boosters is they are 5 card instead of the us 10 card so you only get 150 cards per box.

This was pretty much my only takeaway reading this news. Local hobby shops are great, hopefully this helps them.
Too little, too late. Small game shop in my neighborhood had to close a couple years ago. Now the options are GameStop and WalMart... and of course the local flea market where all the cards are almost guaranteed to be fake.

So... Is this what the NRA would call "a good guy with a gun"?

Oh, wait... Lemme rephrase that.

What's all this, then? So these wankers attempted to mug this geezer but he summoned a gun so they buggered off? Blimey. I'd say those Yankees might have a fair point allowing everyone to bear arms after all.

Babylon Bee could never think of something this clever. They always reuse the same joke.

Here's a picture of the notorious gang of card thieves that Target cited in their reasoning for why they banned cards. These hoodlums must be stopped!
Erm... To be honest, these kind of look like these guys :

(the guys from a clockwork orange... I don't know how to link to them from mobile, so perhaps it doesn't show)

These Babylon Bee guys are just easier to understand, that's all. :tpi:
