Hello,
I have this strange problem with Tales of Destiny Directors Cut that I can't find the solution for anywhere.
I’m emulating through PS3 slim hacked with cobra, on the original DualShock3 the colsole came from, and the game loads fine. I start the game, everything responds.
But the moment I exit from triangle menu, or exit from saving/settings menu, the controller just stops responding, while the game still continues waiting for button commands. Only start button and PS button seem to work, and no matter what other button I press, nothing helps. I’m not a tech person so I have no idea what kind of problem it could be, since all other ps2 games I played on my ps3 worked no problem. Is it the game, the controller, the exploit?
Again, I’m on PS3 slim, using cobra. Emulating through ManaGunz and mmCM gave this same strange result.

I’d appreciate your help, thanks.

UPD: tried DS4, same result. Guess it’s not controller problem, but something else in emulation or the game file itself

I had the exact same issue. I fixed it by updating WebMan Mod.
Also are you using the config file for the ISO? If you dont, try using it. The English patch zip contains the config file and a readme with a how to.

Heres the link to the Patch:

Hope this helps!

EDIT: Oh I just saw, that your thread was one year ago. Sorry for the necro bump. But at least now theres an partial English translation patch for the game!

Thanks so much for responding〜 Since I pretty much gave up on Destiny, as a fan of Tales of I'm happy to try again and see if this works! I kind of intended to play it in full Japanese, but if the patch will fix the problem, I'm not gonna complain. Thanks a lot!

I made this account purely to respond to you. Thank you so much! I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out why the recent English Patch wasn't working on my PS3, I didnt even realize it had a config file until I read your post. Now it's working! (Yeah it's my fault for not reading the readme file, I was so desperate to play it I skimmed over it) You are a lifesaver! Thank you!

I’m having the same issue, but I’m using Multiman not Webman. I tried updating multiman and it didn’t work, anyone know a fix?

How do you use the config file?? I have both the config and the ISO in PS2ISO, but I have the same problem...

Hey hey! So I downloaded the installer pkgs from github. I got the PS2Config (which I never had before), and also updated my webman. After that, I h ad to go back into my Minuteman browser, and delete the .config files for ToD. There were somehow 2 at the point.... BE SURE! When you copy the config file it is labeled the same as your ISO file. BUT! with an extension of .iso.CONFIG Tales of Destiny.iso and Tales of Destiny.iso.CONFIG This worked for me. Fixed after eventually the game wouldn't even load. But now I can save and play like it's meant to be done. Look up aldostools webman 1.47.35

I'm having some trouble too. The problem is, Multiman takes the .iso and turns it into a .enc file in a folder, and I don't know how to apply the .config to that.
I tried installing Webman, but I don't think my CFW is compatible.
Any help?

Sadly I don't know how to fix it.
Maybe you can ask in the translation-team's Discord for help. (Link: https://discord.gg/NUvvgUtdXW )

Thanks anyway for the reply. I eventually figured out a way : )

To anyone who is having this problem; what I did was, I downloaded something called PS2 Classic Gui. I used it to encrypt the pre-patched fan-translated ISO, which gives you a ISO.BIN.ENC file. After that, you convert the .ENC into a .pkg file using the same program. It'll ask if you want to add a .config file, so pick the .config that comes with the pre-patched ISO.
I had to use PS3 Splitter in order to transfer it to the PS3's hard drive, since the resulting .pkg is bigger than 4GB. Put all the divided files into one folder, and use a USB to transfer the folder into the PKG folder on the PS3 hard drive using Multiman. It'll combine the divided files into the whole .pkg file.
Still in Multiman, try opening the .pkg file by selecting it twice, and it'll take you back to the XMB. Go to Install Package Files, and install the .pkg.
After that, the game will be selected from tbe XMB.

I'm having the time of my life playing it, so I hope this helps someone out there : D
