Blizzard has suffered a 29% playerbase decline in the past 3 years

New data shows that Blizzard is suffering a large decline in its playerbase, according to the company's Q1 2021 fiscal report. This follows a negative trend that Activision Blizzard has been facing for the past few years, laying off hundreds of workers, criticisms of CEO Bobby Kotick being "massively" overpaid, the controversy surrounding Diablo Immortal, the departure of longtime veteran Jeff Kaplan, and many other recent stories that have seen their public perception fall, all despite the company doing better than ever, financially. As of the report, dated March 2021, Blizzard saw revenue growth up 7% compared to last year, which, while positive, is an odd statistic, as active users have fallen 29% in the past three years. In just the past quarter alone--just three months--Blizzard lost 2 million "MAU" or monthly average users total. Previously, Blizzard boasted 38 million MAU in Q1 2018, and now that number has dropped to 27 million in Q1 2021. The company remains positive, however, asserting that upcoming titles like Diablo II Remaster, Overwatch 2, Diablo Immortal, and Diablo IV will be major releases to help draw players back in, furthering brand growth.

Shoot, They scrapped the Starcraft: Ghost game for GameCube, I know they got overwatch, but they could do a StarCraft Espionage style game or a StarCraft MMO, I think those would be cool too. A StarCraft 3 game would definitely be refreshing,
Well, we got Nova Covert Ops DLC for StarCraft 2. It wasn't really liked by a lot, but I actually had fun with it.

Just have a few good games is enough to last for so long and still going strong speaks volume on quality over quantity.

Another example is Nintendo first party games. The lasting appeal is incredible. The adults that grew up with them will probably shed a tear if they were gone.

There is a big difference between fans and people that comes and goes, the numbers don't tell if there were loosing fans.

They're not getting any misfortune. Their revenue is up which is what's important.

Yet Diablo Immortal comes out this year and actually looks pretty solid for a mobile game. The bad reaction to it at Blizzcon did absolutely nothing. They didn't say it was going to be the only new Diablo game, or the next major one. People were butthurt because they thought the announcement was gonna be Diablo IV. At least half the people in the audience at that panel are going to play Immortal. It's like people who got mad when Pokémon Unite was announced when they thought they'd hear about the Sinnoh remakes or next generation. They bitched for a week and then forgot.

I know that post is a joke, but there are a lot of people who legitimately think that Diablo Immortal is going to kill Blizzard. Which obviously isn't going to happen, because WOW has had pretty mediocre expansions for years and Blizzard is still around after that. The people who don't like WOW anymore go to ESO or Final Fantasy XIV.

Im playing the Diablo immortal alpha atm. Its pretty much what you expect. dulled down diablo 3 with a few changes. As far as I can tell there is no set items. You can only get legendarys in 6 slots and these legendarys only take legendary gems.

Pacing is pretty good, I hit max level in about a week and at no point did I feel I have to wait till the next day to progress. Game can get pretty laggy (probably my pixel 3) but so far i really haven't come across any bugs.

i never played Card games or understood them, and i spent 100+ Hours in Heart Stone and bought Card Pack for it from day one, Just from Addiction to it, i dont even Play WOW games or know the Lore

Diablo 2 and 3 is the most Addicting games i played on PC and spent over 500+ hours just in multiplayer, shows you how well their games can be

i used to play COD Modern Warfare Games 1,2,3 and got burned out from them, when i saw Overwatch, i played so much i cant even remember how many hours i spent in it, after 3 years i got bored from it but managed to buy the Gold Weapons for Each Hero and still have Competitive Currency to buy more

i am in my 40s and can say that their games survive the test of Time, but recently playing their games has become annoying with lack of actual support or real updates and the community for Overwatch is the Most Toxic to get involved with

i think that looking at other games note developed by them inside their Blizzard Client has ruined their Tradition to have only Great Games and Master Pieces, now you have COD and Crash there, dont get me started on Destiny being there.

Diablo IV will Probably make them the No 1 developer ON PC Again and gain profits

there are very Few Game Developers who can make you play their Game for Years
