HI :)

I need help. I'm looking for a good up to date android tablet. I'm not the best when it comes to this sort of thing. I only ever had a Nvidia Shield K-1 tablet. So I would like one of equal or greater quality since then

A list just to get an idea of what I'm hoping to find.
  • Must be equal in power to Nvidia shield pro Tegra X-1 or better
  • Should not cost more than Nvidia Shield Pro ($300 is max limit I'm willing to spend but)
  • Latest android version
  • 5GHZ wifi, latest version bluetooth, Speakers on the front
  • Must have at least 1280X720 resolution and least 8 inch, nothing lower
As long as these features are in there, I think it will suffice. If you have any ideas, please share, and any advance technical stuff should be explained for understanding of such suggestions. I do know some people get hung on on have some portables having stuff like "TN, IPS, LCD, LED" displays or stuff about colors and what not I don't quite understand. So if you feel I should worry about that stuff, please discuss it rationally.

I hope to find one that performs well, isn't slow, looks and sounds great. Thank you. :)

I'd personally suggest a Samsung galaxy tab S6, It slightly overpowers the CPU of your shield at a respectable 1.8 GHz base and can reach a max of 2.8 GHz, it's gonna be a bit over the 300 mark in US but under 400. It can reach android 11 and like most samsung tablets, has respectable hardware all around.
I looked at ebay listings mostly as you'd likely get this refurbished these days
https://www.ebay.ca/itm/284158501569?epid=18034129112&hash=item42292aa2c1:g:i6AAAOSw95hdjPyE is an example, but if you do search more make sure to not get the lite model for obvious reasons (weaker power)

And if bloatware is an issue for you, Linage OS is always an option as there's an active and supported branch for it.

From my research, yes, ever so slightly. did some comparisons of the Nvidia Tegra X1+ T210B01 (which is what the shield pro carries) to the snapdragon 855 (What the S6 tab has) and the snapdragon barely but still does, come out top in terms of CPU power.
Here's a comparison page of the two.
https://gadgetversus.com/processor/qualcomm-sm8150-snapdragon-855-vs-nvidia-tegra-x1-plus-t210b01/
(The X1 overpowers the K1 which in turn is overpowered by the snapdragon 855)

There seem to be a lot of up and downs between them, but I guess the average is overall better than the nvidia shield x1+

I also don't think there's anything in Tablet Form-Factor that meets your purse limitations.

That said, if you're willing to go for a Smartphone Form-Factor, then Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G is better-performing than the Tegra X1 according to Notebook Check.

The Redmi Note 10 Pro is my under USD 300 suggestion for the most bang for buck.
Its 8GB 128GB iteration is still under your budget and is highly recommended for its Price-to-Performance Ratio.

I've linked all the Specs but the main difference from your target is that it is smaller than 8".
It is, however, a 120Hz 6.67" AMOLED DotDisplay at 2400 x 1080 FHD+.

Whether it is still a Deal-Breaker is up to you.

Yes, I been looking after hearing about this snapdragon thing that it seems better, so I been tempted to go higher. But the statement WiiMiiSwitch said still has me hesitating on an actual purchase. :ninja:

If you're in no rush then I agree it'd be best to see what is actually available when you really need to commit to a purchase. Smartphone Component Logistics don't seem to be in the same predicament as PC counterparts and there might even be time for a comparable Tablet that better suits your ideal.

That said, if you're looking to get the best options, then obviously Chinese brands will be your focus for this Price Point; South Korean and Japanese brands usually are half-arsed in the USD 100-800 Market, only giving more features when the Chinese blow them out of the water in the Segments.

Something to note for your future shopping.

Probably better off saving some money and get a better tablet, that $300 dollars range just going to get you a crappy one, even a tab 6 would still be out of your budget as it cost 6-7 hundred dollars, that 2.84 GHz and 8GB ram is quite worth it, if you going to spend money do it correctly don't buy a cheap one, I also owned a Nvidia Shield Tablet that thing is so slow compared to modern tablet.

Check https://www.androidbenchmark.net/passmark_chart.html for Android CPU performance comparisons.

You might consider a Windows tablet plus an Android emulator. Something like a 2 year old Surface Pro should meet your budget and it does a lot more than a native Android tablet would in addition to having better specs.

In regards to "stuff like "TN, IPS, LCD, LED" displays or stuff about colors and what not I don't quite understand." That's referring to the quality of the display. You probably want at least 1080p for resolution, and higher is nice, but not needed on such a small screen size. LCD and LED are terms for the same thing, but IPS is a higher quality variant with brighter colors, and better viewing angles. OLED is the best display technology and gives you the deepest blacks, but you won't get one cheap.

Well, i'm interested in your progress... I don't think that you have found the necessary tablet with above-mentioned requirements.

Just to help a bit, I'm also searching for a good 10" screen tablet and not so long ago I saw this video:

Of course a Tab S7 is way better, but also is more expensive.
