- Should I use Luma3DS, or something else? Why?

- Can Nintendo find out I am using a CFW, game backups etc.?
- If yes to the above, does Nintendo ban online accounts because of that?

nintendo cant really tell if your using a cfw or an official one
and playing online is pretty much safe unless you try to play a moded game o you have enabled a cheat to play online
luma is the best option cuz it allows you to patch the system adding debugging capabilities and remove some restrictions such as region locks
in fact i just used it to play rhythm heaven which is region locked and didnt allow me to play the EUR version (rhythm paradise) it gave me a black screen, luma fixed that

I've installed Luma3DS and Twilightmenu++ with the widescreen patch, twilightmenu++ boots to widescreen and plays wide-screen games correctly, but I can't play any DS games in 4:3 now. I've tried setting twilightmenu++ to 4:3, I've tried setting individual games to 4:3 but they still all play in 16:10.

Ok so I have a dsi which I have recently fallen back in love with. I have a dstwo cart working in it but it's been that long since I set it up I've forgotten the process.
The reason I ask is I am considering getting a dsi xl to have a bigger screen. Do I just transfer my dstwo over to the dsi xl and presto it works in there?
Lastly I want a 3ds too. Is the general consensus that DS games look rubbish on the 3ds? If not I'd just get a 3ds and use it for everything. Can I use my dstwo in a 3ds or is it better to install cfw?

Another noob here.
I got the R4 SDHD gold pro 2020 flash cart from the nds card website. I'm confused on what exactly should be installed onto it. I know that I need bootstrap on it, but I'm wondering if the kernel is necessary as well. On top of this, can this run 3ds games? Also, if I do need kernel, do I install that first? Thanks!
Edit: so I downloaded the kernel and it's now up and running. It seems like I can now play NDS games. I assume the steps taken with the console SD card / magnet situation is to get 3DS games to run?

The R4 will not run 3DS games. It is for DS mode only. You will be able to install 3DS software (CIA files) on the console SD after following "The Guide": https://3ds.hacks.guide/
To install B9S the guide has multiple paths depending on your current firmware version. If you want to go the ntrboot route, look at the ALL VERSION part of the tabular. You don't have to go this way though. There are software-only ways to achieve the same goal. As much as I personally like the ntrboot method, I would recommend using Soundhax for low firmware versions and the browser exploit for latest firmware.

So, I have a question. I have a Sky3ds+ flashcard with a of couple games on it and I was wondering if I can install .cia dlc files so that they work with the flashcard games. For example, I have Fire Emblem Awakening on Sky3ds+, can I install a .cia dlc file through FBI so that I can play through the DLC's in my flashcard? Or does it only work if I have the game installed as a .cia?
The sky3ds can only run signed roms. which means trying to install the dlc thru fbi will simply not work for you. You would need to install the game and the dlc thru fbi if you wish to use both the game and extra content as you want.
Oh ok thanks. Yeah I was kinda expecting that. My problem is that I don't want to replay through the whole thing again, so is there a way to somehow save my state in the game and when I install it as a .cia continue where I last saved?

I just bought used old 3ds XL and tried to install boot9strap, i did all step by step and when i saw mini_b9s_installer Press any key to reboot i pressed A button and my console doesn't turn on, blue light turn on then suddenly turns off. I don't even have Luma3ds installed/

If you successfully ran SafeB9SInstaller (B9S installed) and it can't find a valid boot.firm (Luma3DS) on your SD, the console will not turn on.
Provide another (don't delete anything on your main SD) FAT32 formatted SD containing nothing but latest Luma3DS boot.firm and try again.

Need some help with flashcart identification and sourcing. My 3DS CFW seems to have issues with Twlight, with long load times and issues with some ROM's on my 3DS. Because of that, I was thinking of trying out a cart with Twilight.
Twilight mentions a R4 Ultra cart as being the most compatible, which cart are these exactly (the myriad of clones does my head in), and are they sourceable in 2021?

Hello, Ive been searching for about a month now but I cant seem to find a solution. So I have a 3ds for like 10 years now, and hadnt used it in a long time. So i started it up and it said "update available" I, not having used it for years, thought it would be fine to update it, but than my r4i card did not work anymore.
This is my card: r4i 3ds with wifi icon.
This is what ive done so far:
(Accidentily) update my nintendo 3ds to version 11.14. Than i put my microsd from the r4i card in the pc, formatted it and put the newest kernel on it from the site writen on my card.
This didnt do anything, my 3ds still gives me the "...please turn off system..." error.
Than i tried to upgrade the card via 2 friends their dsi, but the "start" button does not appear on either, they are both version 1.4.
Now I would like to know if I would be able to upgrade my card with a different 3ds. Or if there is something else i can do.
