You free up 8% HDD space, almost 70GB for 1TB HDD, it really makes a difference!

my ps3 hdds, have had more then one firmware upgrade, and multiple uninstall and reinstall of games, in addition to recently cloning the drive.

obviously, "slowdown" on installed games, when unlocking the extra space is an issue.....................one ps3 game, "Deadly Premonition", caused slowdown on, specifically, I didn't have that issue...............but, my ps3's firmware has also not been updated past the most recent firmwares, like from 4.82 han to 4.86 hen.

the assumption is that sony, tweaked the hdd's management officially, and the drive's storage settled after some use, which would take several months of use after patching to see if that was the case............it is simply a much bigger load place on the drive by reducing the slack space...............

especially applying the patch to a drive that I know already has fragment space on it, just based on the multiple uninstall and reinstalls...............unless the drive was reformated completely, one user's account on an existing installed drive with games, would be a big disaster for another user.

8percent is probably too high a value, which reduces to 1 percent the slack space.................a value that is too low.

if the value was 5 percent more, and the slack space higher then 1 percent, it would be reasonable, considering nothing new was installed or etc, but seems like a disaster!

I agree 8% of reserved space is too much !
Personally I have unlocked that reserved space and reduced it to 1% long ago and haven't experienced any issues regarding performance or compatibility.
