ROMHacking.com, A SM64 ROM Hacking Aggregator and Leader Board, Launched

Popular SM64 and Super Mario Maker 2 streamer, SimpleFlips, launched his “Secret Project” today. ROMHacking.com.

Not to be confused with ROMHacking.net, ROMHacking.com offers an aggregated list of over 1,200 SM64 ROM hacks that uses a custom version of Star Tracker to easily download and patch a SM64 ROM for use with your N64 emulator of choice, with some emulators even offering instant launching of the patched ROMs. The site also uses Star Tracker to track what stars you collect in which ROM hacks you play, and automatic gives you points on a leaderboard that is hosted on the site.

In a 5 hour live stream today, Simple addressed that him and his team would like to add support for SM64 Decompilation hacks and hacks of other games to the site eventually, but they want to find more devs to help brunt some of the coding and logistics.

I like the idea but I don't like that it seems to be a bit of a smack in the face/trying to ride the coattails of ROMhacking.net...

Honestly the name is a bit misleading, since this makes it sound like it'll be rom hacks in general, but it's just sm64 hacks

He said that he bought the domain "a few years ago" but I don't know if that was before ROMhacking.net launched.

He also said that the original vision was to support ROM hacks of more than just SM64, but that proved to be unfeasible for the small team. Yeh

Romhacking.net came out in 2005, which was 16 years ago, so im guessing he didnt buy the domain before romhacking.net was a thing

The creator of ROMhacking.net owned the ROMhacking.com domain back in 2004 at least, before switching to net. ROMhacking.net is over a decade old, so the guy woulda had to have purchased the domain a weirdly long time ago and then done nothing with it.

They had problems with the mail service they were using at the start of the stream, but you should be able to register now!
