Personally, I think the main reasons to get an S is either you’re a ‘casual’ or you already buy digital/Gamepass and it’s a secondary/‘casual’ system.

For example, I know someone who only plays maybe 1 or 2 games bought at launch a year at 1080p, so a Series S might make more sense for them.

But if you regularly buy/play games, physical I often find gets cheaper quicker than physical and the extra included storage might offset the additional cost to get a Series X.

I got an S because it was all I could find in stock. I must say that on my new 4k 120hz tv it looks like garbage. Blurry upscaled textures and even contemplated taking it back. My laptop at 1080p 120hz outputs a much better image then this blurry mess with HDMI 2.0. My kids PS5 looks great on the the same TV so maybe I was expecting too much from it.

If I wanted one (which I don't because of the lack of analog video, being fundamentally a crippled PC, and other minor complaints) - Professional Black (plus green) over ugly bluetooth speaker

I just got a Series S

not really regretting it. Ps5 is my main driver, and I had a One S collecting dust that paid for most of it.

Also interested in exclusively Game pass ultimate, got 3 years live + paid $1 to bump it to Gamepass through 2024.

If I was main driver Xbox, I'd probably get Series X but that's not my use case. I love how small the box is too

I disagree, some may buy only digital. However I do support a series s with a disc drive
This. Series S is a great bang for your buck console on a budget but the fact that it doesn't have a disk drive is really infuriating.

I really do not want to live in a world where there is only one digital storefront on a console without physical media that can have said digital games away by revoking the "licence" and crap.

Now don't get me wrong, I like digital for convenience and simplicity but feel like as though both formats need to be accepted as together.

Many people also don't realize how some used game sales are really great compared to even some of the best digital discounts, which would realistically benefit budget gamers the most, which makes no sense on why they would remove the disk drive.

Other than the fact that companies want control to lock their storefront as the only way to purchase games.

I think either are fine options. I ended up upgrading SS to SX and no regrets there either but I got a cheap AWD sale price on an open box and couldn't resist. Paid pretty much nothing to upgrade after flipping my SS. Maybe a slight little bit.

I am glad to have more storage and access to One X features now and One X enhanced games.
Sucks that SS is the same as playing One games on a One S but makes sense. Sucks more than other games than just Xbox One are One X enhanced, like it can go far back.

Glad to have a blu ray player in the bedroom again too and access to Forza 6 and 7 that have been de-listed. And disc based backwards compatibility
