I have a 4 TB hard drive (old style not SSD) full of PC games. I don't want the external to die one day and then I lose all my games. I just bought a 5 TB hard drive, is it possible to clone them? Transfering would be a biatch.

It's the same exact thing. If you transfer the files when you are sleeping it will be finished there is no other way.

External HD is more safer btw than a hardrive

It's going to take more than one night I think. Well it depends if I'm downloading other things.

Great insight.

It depends on the file size it may take 2days but if that's your only computer I can understand. I may look into buying a 10TB storage as a backup but only in the near future those things cost like $200 but then again I did spend $100 on the 5TB external HD and I have my spare 2TB external HD.

My 500gb external HD still runs strong after 10 years and that is what I use for my modded PS3

It's a nice laptop with nvidia gtx 1650 16 gb ram, can play any PC game or emulator that's out so far. Wish that SSD wasn't so expensive my internal SSD is only 256 gb there's a second internal 1 TB but it's not SSD, and all the externals are not SSD including the 4 TB. Nothing may happen but I can't risk to lose all the games on it.

I mean it's a laptop but I keep it hooked up to my TV all the time, so I treat it more like a desktop.

I have a dell G3 it's old now but I upgraded my internal HD into a 512TB SSD I probably paid like $80 from amazon for it. My PC can maybe play 85% of the current games but it isn't strong enough to play RE8 so I'm out of luck. You have to consider that external is safer because if your PC dies 9/10 times the warranty expires you may want to invest in a 10TB HD tower. If my G3 dies I would be pissed but I didn't lose anything because all my games I play from my external HD not my internal. Although I do have a 1TB additional storage.

I rarely play games on my gaming laptop idk why

It would admittedly be neater to just have one big one, but it would just cost more money.

@JustJay

So you have all of those drives hooked up at the same exact time?

Yep with a few usb 3.0 hubs. Never caused me any issues.

Well the 4 TB when I had it hooked up to one of the hubs it would sometimes disconnect randomly so I started putting it directly into the laptop port, ever since none of them give me any issues. C: and D: are both internal.

And my computer can play RE8, can't wait.

Ahh okay I understand in my laptop I have a SSD and a HD inside and for some off reason I had 6gb of unallocated space so I just made that for my SNES and NES roms but I never use my storage HD idk why everything is mainly on the external. If I want to play a computer game I just hook up my external HD and play it. I hope this laptop last me for another 5 years I will upgrade down the road but not now. I use my gamimg laptop for more basic things than actual gaming. I only play Super Mario 3D world on it with the Wii U emulator that's about it.

I start all my games through Launchbox, PC games or emulators. I have nearly 1000 games. Nothing too old like SNES or anything like that either those on mostly on my Switch.

I got everything for my PC a Dualshock 4 for regular games, an arcade stick for fighting games, Lightgun and steering wheel for racing.

I think the hardest thing is when you have so many games is to find the time to play them. I'm trying to beat the games I like but since I'm older now it's not how it used to be when I was 15 lol

True I mostly play action games or rpgs. The rest is just for collection mostly. Like I have my steering wheel hooked up to my computer but rarely use it.

I been playing my PS3 more recently I have to beat RE4, 5, 6, until I can start 7, 2, and 3. Same thing applies to GOW collection and DMC

The reason I kinda freaked out is I had a 500 gb external die on me the other day then a 250 stopped working a few days later. They were old and I was only using them to install pkgs on PS4 but you just never know.

Good taste and I've beaten all those games. (not joking) Recently I beat Persona Strikers (amazing game maybe my GOTY) and just the other day finally beat Devil May Cry 5 which is really good amazing graphics good story, and Gears 5.

By the way I also use a Dualshock 4 on my PC with a $20 mayflash adapter. Only difference than playing on PS4 is the touchpad doesn't work but it's not needed on PC obviously.

Yeah I thought about and narrowed it down to 5. I don't want anything to happen to a usb port on my laptop that would suck.

Let see on the cloning part, if the content on the drive is just file you can just copy and paste they to another drive, as for stuffs that is installed, you would need to clone them using a docking station or software like Acronis.
