Oh, it's okey, some devs disable it because some people tend to use it as a "features beg board" or spam it with requests, sadly.

Well, even though i find WiiFlow super cool, i really don't use it for homebrew at all. I only use it for Wii game loading. You even helped me with a mini setup for WiiSXRX's then new Wiiflow compatibility.

My Wii boots straight to Homebrew Channel since at least 5 or 6 years ago, never use the System Menu these days, unless i am going for a Wiiware game, which i have installed 5 only. SD card 98% of the time, USB only for brief tests between RX emulators releases. One of my 2 flash drives borked months ago (the biggest and most useful one for this) so i stopped doing the ultimate WiiSXRX compatibility list.
i also only use sd cards for homebrew so we are all on sd cards. so what is your sd card? maybe it works being smaller ones? maybe it has a bug with the size of the card itself?

Hi,
thanks for testing the dosbox-wii fork. The bug on dosbox-wii compiled with current devkitPro is very very strange.
On my Wii the Wiimote controller stop working for Dosbox Version "1.7x beta r4301 dynrec" from one to another day. All very weird...

Maybe it's easyer to build it with an older devkitPro version.

Does anybody know which devkitPro and lib versions was used for compilation for the Dosbox Wii v1.7 released on June 30, 2012 or which devkitPro and lib versions was used for Dosbox Wii R1 v1.7 (Wiimpathy) released on April 2016?

im guessing it was the one that was latest at the time maybe check devkit pro release dates?

also for me since i got this bug i cant even get the vanilla 1.7 to read any imputs saved on my mappers. maybe it would be better if you tough on how to revemp the controller interface somehow, maybe there are easier methods now like using some emulators codes like wii64 controller code where you choose which button is wich button on original hardware, just a tough imo.

@retro100
Fix 1, 2 and 3: controls not working at all.
Fix 4, 5 and 6: Home button, IR pointer and A B as the mouse buttons are working. Mappers not working.
Returning back to Dosbox Wii R1 v1.7 (Wiimpathy): everything is working again for me.

Probably compiled with DevkitPPC r26. I can't say which specific libogc and SDL versions. Libs from 2012 I guess.
In R1 dol, it says libPNG 1.5.9 from february 2012. I tend to compile SDL from source but you can still test with the offical releases from github.
You could also ask some help at Devkitpro git or forums but it generally leads nowhere for this kind of issue. It'd be a lot faster and simpler to compile with older libs: https://wii.leseratte10.de/devkitPro/

Other benefits using pre Devkit r29, are a bit better performance(?!) and some extra RAM. With recent GCC it's a bit slower. cf. https://github.com/ekeeke/Genesis-Plus-GX/issues/260#issuecomment-461129726
There may be a few interesting additions in latest devkits though.

Besides running at least 20% slower than Beta 1 or 2, i had the exact same results.

Many thanks for the infos and for the link to the old/archived versions!

In the next days I will try to compile with the old devkitPro / lib versions and hopefully the bug with controller input doesn't arise.

best regards

No controls for me too. USB keyboard and mouse work. Rayman, Heroes of Might and Magic II, Heretic and Hexen tested and approved.

Simcity 2000, Transport tycoon deluxe, Z (or zed, RTS), X wing and Tie Fighter now run at a playable speed, some slowdown if theres to much going on but still better than before. I still cant set the image in SC2000, TTD, simfarm, A-train, battle bugs; the upper menus are beyond the display, cant enable the black borders

A new beta build is available (beta3). I compiled it with old devkitPPC / libogc and other old lib versions to hopefully avoid the controller input bug.
The downside is that this build is 10-15% slower (tested with dynamic mode).
Also the original Dosbox 1.7 Version is for testing included. Recompiled with my old devkitPPC / libogc installation which I also used for beta3. The beta3 build can be found on github. I can't post the link here. As newcomer this is not allowed ;-)

Daum, kinda sad for the performance loss, i guess this could be used while controller issues are solved when compiled with newer libraries. Thanks for the new build, i will definitely try it and report back.

I'll leave your links and original post info here for other users:
A new beta build is available https://github.com/retro100/dosbox-wii/releases/tag/1.7x.beta3
I compiled it with old devkitPPC / libogc and other old lib versions to hopefully avoid this bug.
See https://github.com/retro100/dosbox-wii/blob/master/INSTALL_Wii.md at the end for the used versions.

Also a menu for increase/decrease cycles and frameskip from Wiimpathy's modified R1 Version is included (not all features currently included).

The downside of the beta3 build with the old devkitPPC / libogc is that the performance is lower. Benchmark has only 2.6 FPS instead of 3.0 FPS. I use PC Player Benchmark with DOS/32A instead of DOS4GW. With the original DOS4GW file the values are even lower.

For performance reasons, it would probably be better to use the latest devkitPPC version and find the bug.
But for now I hope we have a functional version ;-)

@Wiimpathy thanks for the links.

Also the original Dosbox 1.7 Version is for testing included. Recompiled with my old devkitPPC / libogc installation which I also used for beta3.

Tested and... Wii Classic Controller working! :yaywii:

Cons:
- Wii U Pro controller does not work now. Since i am not sure how far back you went with libogc, i could only add that you should be able to safely use 1.8.15-1, which was the first version with support integrated.
- Gamecube controller not working, but it was already like that since the beginning, just wanted to point it out.

Minor QoL request:
- When pressing the GUI buttons for Frameskip and CPU Cycles, the previously selected button jumps to another position. Could it be made so that it stays in position?

yeah everything works fine for me too on the wii, but on wiiu same sd card and same files and on vwii i cant get the wiimote to even recognize the home button and i used same wiimote+same cc same sd card from wii to wiiu, maybe its due to devkit being old?

If that were the case none of my emulators would work or sync controllers on the Wii U, whether we are talking about vWii or C2W patched / Injections. The only odd case i know of so far that stopped working on newer Homebrew Channel versions (at least for me), is the RAW/REminiscence Wii port. (Another World / Flashback)

Curious case you got there. I could try and test it on my Wii U, but i need to know if you are using plain vWii+HBC, vWii+Channel Forwarder, and if you have already tested injecting / using C2W forwarders.
