I have a Rocketfish component cable for my Wii, Does this provide the optimum picture quality ? or Should I buy an HDMI adapter like this ?

I also have an unbranded component cable like this , how does it compare with the Rocketfish cable ?

The first is a converter. Upscaling is the term you have in your mind about picture quality and you may search for. I think a Marseille product may do the upscaling job together with the HDMI converter. As you can understand the combo is quite pricey, but I think the picture quality may be very clean for a Wii but I suggest buying a Wii U instead for the same price. On the other hand, the second product (if the original Wii component cable) may see a better picture quality due to better colours gamut and a little cleaner picture overall but nothing WOW.

The component cables from Rocketfish will probably get you the best picture of the bunch without modding the console. As stated above, the HDMI adapters have a layer of conversion in the pipeline that isn't ideal. There are also products like HD Retrovision cables that focus on getting a clean picture and mostly accurate reproduction that probably shouldn't be overlooked.

I used to use a third-party multi console component cable for my Wii and was quite satisfied with the result, personally. I since have moved to the HD Retrovision cables.

Both are fine. I have a Component cable with my Wii and the only thing I can say about it is that it's WAY better than Composite! No more artifacting anymore, where there would be a "running ants" effect on certain colours, and the colours kept blending.
