This is the first time a western Capcom account has ever mentioned the name "The Great Ace Attorney" implying that the collection will be announced there.
We know the announcement is going to be this month thanks to the Capcom leaks, so it matches up.

I respect the work that the team has put into this project, but this seems pointless when the official release is right around the corner. I don't want this to end up in the same situation as Danganronpa.

For clarification, the announcement date is just speculation. An imminent english release is not. If you've seen the leaks, it's clear as day.

I really don't think it's POINTLESS-- I mean, we already know from the leaks that Sherlock Holmes will have to be called Herlock Sholmes due to legality reasons-- who knows what else may have to be changed for the English version! As someone who just finished Episode 2 of the first Great Ace Attorney, as translated by Scarlet Study, I really do believe that a good translation team can make such a difference to the feeling of a game, and I'm deeply attached to everything they've done to retain the character, emotion and humour, while also providing us with all necessary context.

I'm happy to see the project alive and well. I finished the first Great Ace Attorney a few weeks ago and the quality of the translation was astounding.
As for the official release: If Capcom decides to release their version in the west, I'll definitely buy it to support the franchise but I think I'll wait for the final release from Scarlet Study to actually play it for the reasons mentioned by HomeStarRunnerTron and because the 3DS is just a great platform.

How is the length of 4 and 5 compared to 1,2 and 3 ?

I suppose it will be long as the final episodes are normally the longest, if you played spirit of justice, the final episode took about 13 hours to finish. I do expect it will take some time, it might be finished at the end of this year or the next.

I know how it´s normally - I played every AA game :-)

But they specifically said Episode 3 is ***EXTRA*** long. So I wanted to know how long it is compared to 4 and 5. Maybe this time its different.

From what I got from the youtube videos, Approx 8+ hours. There is a person who made subs for the whole game.

Yes. Any previous version will be automatically overwritten as the 3DS can only have one update per title at a time. You don't need to do anything before patching.

Interesting to know, I pretty much deleted the translation before installing this.

The translation is really well done and the story so far is interesting as well, but the Shu Takumi problem with multiple statements with the same contradiction when presenting the same evidence but only working with one statement has returned in one trial.
Also there is a section (in the second investigation part iirc) where there is something that is ~ 5 pixels big that needs to be found to progress and is even right beside something that can be interacted with as well, absolute lunacy!
Otherwise it was a really enjoyable episode, I am looking forward to the last two episodes. It was a good idea to buy this game, even though they will release an official translation judging by the leaks.

GOODness, that was even bigger news than I was expecting it to be-- as someone who still can't get my hands on a Switch, I'm SO grateful it's releasing on computers. Honestly, that could even open up the doors for some kind of retroactive PC patch where Scarlet Study can insert in their own translation.
