is there a mame standalone emulator that works on the Vita?
I really dislike retroarch and have had nothing but trouble with it on other platforms so really don't want to use it on my Vita.

I've tried searching for mame and mame2003.vpk but no luck.

It would be nice, but it doesn't exist.
The closest would be pfbn, but it's pretty janky and unless you build the romset yourself,
you will end up with a lot of bloat due to it's ability to run Genesis and TG16 roms.

Ah, Mame standalone. I opened a thread here (a lot of years ago) to point that Mame 0.72 got ported to switch, and even the source code was in the github. I do think the Vita "has it" to run it full speed. At least the Mortal Kombat arcade games.
