To me it sounds like "Format System Memory" while having Preloader installed.
According to https://wiibrew.org/wiki/Preloader#Changelog this should be fixed in v0.29… I don't really know about this.

As long as you can access Preloader there is hope. Reinstalling a System Menu (and it's IOS should fix this).
:!: Since installing a System Menu overwrites Preloader (and the newer Priiloader) you should reinstall the latest Priiloader directly – without a reboot.
:!: If anything goes wrong (like System Menu IOS missing) the Wii is dead forever.

I guess @XFlak can five you exact instructions what and how to install. Wait for XFlak (or anybody with enough experience and knowledge in Wii) to confirm and do not blindly install or delete things.

In any case:
Good luck!

Probably start by saving the hackmii installer's boot.elf to the SD root, then launch it from preloader's load/install option.

If this fails, we can install a forwarder dol instead that points to the hackmii installer boot.elf.

From within the hackmii installer, install bootmii as ios (and boot2 if possible), and install the homebrew channel. If anything fails here, you should load/install yawmm's or mmm's boot.dol (or a forwarder dol to either) and install a clean IOS58 wad, then try again.

When you exit the installer, you should be brought to the hbc, hit the home button and launch bootmii, make a nand backup.

Note that at this stage, your preloader will be able to directly launch bootmii, but not the hbc. To (re)launch the newest hbc with your old preloader, launch bootmii, then launch the hbc from bootmii (or load/install a forwarder dol to load the title ID "LULZ" - which can be built using modmii's advanced downloads page).

Anyway, then grab the 4.2U system menu wad (i.e. SystemMenu_4.2U_v481.wad) and ios70 (I.e. IOS70v65535(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP-RC24]).wad), a wad manager like yawmm or mmm, and the latest priiloader installer. You can get all these from modmii.

Then install ios70 and the 4.2u system menu using yawmm or mmm, then reinstall priiloader immediately (it was removed when u installed a new system menu) .

At this point your main issue should be fixed and the system menu accessible and you can use modmii's main wizard or system updater wizard as per usual

Happy to hear it! But you should still run the main Modmii Wizard, or modmii's syscheck updater wizard (+ optional usb loader setup wizard). Everything up until now was just to get you to a sane baseline to be able to follow the 'standard operating procedure'

Not only is this problem already solved and your advice not needed, but this is just simply bad advice. Installing a random list of wads without actually listing/confirming they are safe in this exact/unique situation, not to mention from what I can see a lot of the files are outdated (cios249 rev 17? No 250, no IOS58 which is the most important). If you want to use this video to help people in the future, make sure you tell them the list of wads in the video is not the wads they should install, and instead they should install X. Or better, just tell them to use ModMii :)

Edit: and this problem wouldn't be solved by your solution anyway, as a new system menu for the right region was not installed in the video

Dude. U shared a video, the wads installed in that video would not have solved this problem, nor did you list the necessary wads, or share a method of obtaining them.

I often will suggest wii.guide and modmii, or other reputable guides. Your advice was in response to a problem that MODMII already solved 2 weeks ago, so it was unnecessary even if it was a valid solution, which it ain't.

If you know anything about me, you'd know I have no problem saying if/when I stand corrected, and I have no problem with people sharing good solutions that don't involve modmii. This is not one of those times.

Also, not sure if you are aware, but I am the creator of ModMii. If I suggest it, it's the same as me detailing a solution, but without having to repeat myself or illegally share files. And even if this wasn't the case, there's nothing wrong with promoting a tool that is way better than the "solution" being suggested by other "tools"

stop tagging mod mii what a ad lol
A developer may link to their project in the signature. This is completely okay.
ModMii is a great software and the problem in this thread was already solved:

Distributing links to a set of (c)IOS WAD files is at least questionable from the perspective of copyright. You're redistributing HackMiiInstaller and BootMii as well – which you should not do:
bootmii.org/download/ said:
Please link to this download page instead of re-hosting the Installer on your site

I wouldn't expect anyone to install an untested package of unknown source.

and contains a boot.dol of USB Loader GX r938 which I CRC32 (60997513) checked against the repository and found it here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/usbloadergx/files/Releases/Older revisions/

The meta.xml in the Priiloader directory suggests it is version 0.4 from 2010.
Excuse me, all this does not make much sense.

Lol! I just realized this video was uploaded mere hours ago! How is it outdated by more than a decade on day 1?

And thanks for sharing more details Kleines, I didn't click through to see the mediafire upload link. Not sure if this is better or worse than it not being provided.

Also, this "solution" won't work with motion+ wiimotes. Just one more problem with it, I'm sure if we keep digging we'll find even more. Well, actually more on that note, I'm not sure why priiloader wasn't installed before installing wads in the video, since the install WADs step didn't involve installing a new system menu (thus uninstalling priiloader). Priiloader should be installed at the earliest opportunity, but meh, it's not a huge deal as long as it gets installed before exiting a homebrew environment

Edit: just realized based on the vids that thewiiguy is clearly a child, probably younger than ModMii or the Wii itself. I still stand by everything I said, but had I known I was dealing with a child I would've softened the language a bit more.

believe me, @XFlak knows what he's talking about. I was never really a member of the wii scene, but I did most of its hacks. I just don't remember much about them (mostly know wii u stuff now), so if I ever can't remember something about the original wii, I know whom to ask: Xflak. I think this was a misunderstanding though. :)

if your video tutorial is dangerous, chances are the video or post will be taken down and this thread will be locked, since the problem is solved anyway. there was another member, theNintendoguy? ironically similar name, but he was dispensing bad advice on the wii u about mass deleting tickets. that thread was locked.
